It was a great camp site with clean bathrooms and showers that had a great view. The pool and bar area was also very nice. The staff were also very friendly and helpful and their wine was great. Would highly recommend a stay here to anybody who is considering it.

The team at highlanders is the best I've ever had the pleasure of staying with. Their attention to detail and hospitality make this place a no brainer when it comes to deciding where to stay. The views from the lodge are incredible and the pool definintely helps when the temperature goes up. The rooms were clean and well maintained, as was the rest of the property. I could tell you they have great cooks, but you have to try the food to really believe it for yourself!

6th year to stay with Sparky and his amazing team and always the best stay in South Africa! Yes, this gorgeous, quiet lodge in the middle of North-Western Cape is such a retreat, my groups never want to leave. The open fire, food cooked on the spit, and a great selection of wines, make Highlanders my go-to favorite getaway in Western Cape. The lodge rooms have great beds, are always super clean, and have all the amenities of a great resort. It's so well taken care of that it looks new. The food is amazing, with the best local chefs making both meat and veg dishes. I have never camped there but I have met many campers that love the views, the quiet site, the friendly dogs (Jeff and Ben) that greet you every morning, and great facilities at the camp. Can't wait until August when I get to go back.

Room tip: All lodge rooms are excellent

Stayed a night at highlanders in their rooms. The setting is beautiful with views to the mountain range and lovely gardens with grape vines throughout. There are two friendly dogs at property and also a nice pool. The room was comfortable and included air conditioning and a private bathroom.

Our group participated in the wine tasting, which was a bit unusual and included lots of rules not just about the wine but also about the property more generally. Not sure if they have had bad experiences in the past, but it seemed excessive as much of this content had been covered in a briefing when we arrived at the property. This meant the tasting of 6 wines took nearly two hours.

The wine was good and not expensive, so unless you want specifically to do a tasting, I would recommend just ordering a bottle or glass as it is very affordable.

My wife and I stayed one night in one of the rooms/ cabins. Very dark, no toiletries, no TV or coffee making facilities.
We were part of a group of 16 and ordered dinner, they provided 24 chicken legs and dry bread and jam.
When challenged the proprietor thought it was adequate and charged 135 zar per person.
Breakfast was soggy toast and cold scrambled eggs.
This place is out to make a profit.
