Lakeport is a great local campsite without a long drive and hassle. If you explore just north of the campsite there is an old local bar called the Tallyho Inn! Great owners and atmosphere. Campsite has updated and clean facilities and you can’t beat the beach.

We camp out regularly and Lakeport is one of our favorite spots close to Port Huron, and a relatively short drive from Grosse Pointe Park. Campsites are well maintained and the staff is courteous and helpful. We like meeting the other campers who share the park and the experience has been relaxing and peaceful. Nice for a weekend getaway.

We recently picked up an A-frame style camper (Rockwood) which pops up in a minute or two, so the transition is simple and we are able to spend time on other things. Lakeport has a nice sandy, pebbled beach but note that the water can be especially cold. Restrooms and showers are fine, and there is a small convenience store.

So we decided to go spend the day at the public beach!! What a beautiful park!! The day beach is about a mile or so from the campground. What a beautiful beach!! First off the area has grills, volleyball nets, swing sets and a nice bathroom. The beach is awesome. Looking out into Lake Huron their were sailboats everywhere!! Looked beautiful. The water was perfect!! Not sure what the temp was but we loved it!! I would recommend water shoes. It is a little rocky but when you get further out there's a large sand bar that's easier on your feet!! All in all we had a wonderful day at a beautiful park!!

Camped two nights here and it was nothing special but not terrible either. The sites are not private and have that special 'grassy Walmart parking lot' feel to them. The shower facility seemed fairly new and nicer than some of the other MI state parks I've camped at. Camp store sold a good selection of items but you're only about 5 miles away from every amenity you would ever need in nearby Port Huron. The campground beach on Lake Huron is fairly 'meh' but you get a nice view of freighters going by. I probably would never come back here since there's nothing spectacular or overly scenic in the park but it's not a bad campground either. The staff seemed friendly enough.
