Not always so quiet, at night you hear the ocean waves, tree frogs and insects, I am used to either sleeping or trying to sleep at night but during the six nights that my wife and I spent at Ballenas I spent many hours just listening to nature giving a beautiful performance. We stayed in cabana 5B, very comfortable, no a.c., none needed and the second night we turned off the fan and we were very comfortable. No TV, the WiFi in the lobby is slow but I read three books which would normally take me months to do. The grounds are well tended with exotic plants that I had never seen before, a private beach and pool, both lovely to swim in. The managers, Delphine and B.B. are very warm and attentive as are all the employees. I am glad we stayed at a Eco-friendly hotel, not the usual resort that gets it's food from Sysco.com with very little money going to the surrounding community. There are a lot of steps, the grounds are on a slope going down to the ocean but we welcomed the exercise.

If you're looking for a nice and relaxing location far from the massive all including hotels that's the place to be.
Located in a tropical garden full of palm, where you can almost only hear the birds and the sea.
Really nice atmosphere.

This isn't a Marriott or an all inclusive resort; don't expect lightning fast wifi and 50" TVs in the rooms. There isn't 24/hr room service and you can't just walk into town. This is a place to relax and disconnect in nature. This is a small, boutique hotel far removed from any hustle and bustle.

The grounds are absolutely gorgeous with views at every turn. There is a small, private beach at the bottom of the hill. There is an infinity pool with ocean views in the middle of the property with a bar adjacent. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the service by the staff and owners was second to none.
The restaurant on site had a great menu at fair prices and there is plenty of liquor in the bar to keep anyone content. We stayed 2 nights after whale watching in Samana; the hotel is a 20 minute drive from Samana City.

If you want to get away from everything and spend a few nights in actual paradise where you fall asleep to the sound of crashing waves and you're serviced by owners and staff that treat you like family, this is the place for you!

Room tip: you can request a room with an ocean view

My boyfriend and I spent a few days at this charming boutique hotel and truly enjoyed our stay. The bungalows, the swimming pool, the breakfast area and the dining room are very peaceful, quiet, and offer spectacular views over the ocean and palm trees. The breakfast is good, the staff is extremely nice and helpful and the cocktails at the swimming pool are a must. Our favorite hotel in Dominican Republic :)
Note: You should rent a car / scooter and visit the beaches around, they're gorgeous
