“Fantastic property in a great location”
Reviewed 13 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

A family of five with mum dad, two teenagers and their grandma. The property was great and a very good size. Spotlessly clean. Good facilities and we cooked each night and had ample crockery and cooking utensils. The property was warm and inviting and we all had more than enough sae. Beds were comfortable and the WiFi and TV access was good: we enjoy date opening ceremony of the Olympics whilst there!

Great location very close to Bakewell and Chatsworth. Easy access to Chesterfield for a day shopping and close enough to supermarkets for provisions. We found a great bar with superb cocktails in Longstone just a short distance away (The White Hart).

Would strongly recommend!

“Comfortable, warm and great location”
Reviewed 8 April 2016 for a stay in March 2016

Stayed over Easter weekend, really comfy accommodation and would recommend it. Flagstone floors with rugs, wood burning fire, quality TV and comfy sofas meant warm relaxation after day out in fresh air. Would be good to stay with a group in adjacent accommodation.
If there is any feedback (minor) I would say lighting in kitchen is bit stark, would be good to have another set of spots, and all on dimmer switches, but hey if that's the only thing even slightly negative then it's an excellent place to stay !!

Hi Jeremy

Thank you for taking the time to review your cottage, we are delighted that you would recommend it as an excellent place to stay ! We are pleased that you found the sofa's comfy and enjoyed the log burner and quality TV. We do take group booking for the adjacent cottages which allows individual space for guests and also communal space for meals and is very popular with groups of families and friends.

It is also good to get feedback on the kitchen lighting, the ceiling open to the rafters is a lovely feature and spots have been placed discreetly so not to detract from this - they are bright to make a good working environment and there is a softer light on the extractor hood, and wall lights, further spotlights and lamps around the open plan area but an additional lamp in the kitchen area may provide another option so we will review this in light of your comments

We would be delighted to welcome you again and hope you have plans to visit the area again soon. Thanks again for your review.

“Pristine cottages in a perfect setting.”

Our family stayed in all 3 cottages on this site for my parent's Golden Wedding. All 3 cottages are like a home from home, spotlessly clean and furnished to a high standard. Plenty of bathrooms for everyone, and all done to a high standard. My parents were welcomed with a card and bottle of bubbly for their special occasion, which we thought was a lovely touch. We'll definitely be returning to Rowdale farm cottages, and would recommend it to family and friends.

“Well located, good accomodation”
Reviewed 9 June 2015 for a stay in May 2015

really enjoyed our stay here. nice comfortable accommodation. lacking mobile signal but to be expected given the landscape. close to monsal trail which was great - took a walk along it to Bakewell which was lovely. also hired bikes for 4 hours to cycle to end of trail and back - lovely views and cycling through the tunnels was great. the nearby road is a bit of a rat run and a bit busy with lorries and farm traffic during the day but again not a big issue. chatsworth nearby is well worth a visit. we also took a driving tour up snake pass and back via Buxton - also very nice

Many thanks for taking the time to write a review for Rowdale Cottages. Any feedback is gratefully received so that we can continue to maintain our high standards and keep our valued guests happy.
We are pleased that your accommodation was nice and comfortable and that your cottage matched your expectations. The cycle hire shop is close by and the Monsal Trail is accessible through the local farmers field by the cottages, or by the hire shop. It is popular in the Peak district and therefore can be busy on the roads during the day, but during the evenings, they become much quieter. Chatsworth House is one of the most beautiful stately homes in the country, and as you say, well worth a visit. We hope to see you again in the future and again, many thanks.

“Basic and clean”
Reviewed 26 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

Pros, near to Monsal Trail, great dog activities\ pubs nearby, no worries with stone floors and well used furniture for dogs, great shower, plenty of crockery and glassware, two bathrooms.
Cons, no WiFi, no washing machine, poor parking and drive way, poor signage, no contact all holiday from owners, double bed uncomfortable, hob not brill, noisy road outside.
We had a good basic holiday, but a little milk would have been welcome on arrival for a drink of tea!
