If you ever find yourself in Ostia I heartily recommend this jewel of a restaurant. It's a little of the beaten track but easy to get to( just a 10 minute walk from the Ostia Nord station)
It's only been opened a few months and fortunately follows the "Slow Food" tradition. If you're after a 10 page menu offering everything from pizza to spaghetti bolognese, then please don't come to this restaurant, his is not what slow food is about.
The beauty of Bella Vista is that it has a small select menu consisting of no more than 4 or 5 dishes in each of the antipasto, primo and secondo dishes but they are offered because of seasonal availability which guarantees freshness and excellent quality. I have never tried Pugliase cooking before and I can best describe it as a combination of delicate flavours, mainly of fish with exiting combinations of flavours. Your hostess is professional and well informed of every dish she explains to a standard you normally find in a 5 star restaurant. You can taste and feel the dedication the chef and owners put into every meal. I was a bit hesitant about writing this review as I so would love to keep it my little secret but I honestly wish them all the success to continue as to me it is the closet thing to visiting the beautiful Puglia itself.
