The setting was stunning, beautifully tended gardens both front and back all overlooking it's own citrus fruit orchard, but even more stunning was the view from the large veranda, from sitting there with a glass of beer I could see the blue lagoon on Comino right across to St Pauls bay on Malta (even the Hilton hotel in Sliema ).
The villa itself was very spacious and airy with a well equipped kitchen, 3 bathrooms and even a good selection of books. Exterior lighting around the BBQ area and pool made for some great evenings at home.
The village centre of Qala was a few minutes walk away and had 4 great restaurants and three pubs all within the small square, supermarkets and a chemist were also in the square.
It is always handy to have a car in Gozo especially on your first visit, but if you have seen the sights already then don't bother, everything you need is at hand from the villa even a diving school!, buses and taxis are easy to get in the village and fresh bread and groceries can be bought from the ever present vans that roam the streets.
Remember your insect repellent and bite ointment in high summer, though the villa has insect screens for a comfortable night.
Some of the linen supplied by the owners was in need of replacement, but was clean and adequate enough. The owners themselves were very friendly and very helpful and though they lived above us we only saw them as the garden or pool was tended early in the morning or if we needed their help.
