Located in the cozy town of Litochoro, this tavern offers delicious and fresh food - both meat and fish. The host is helpful and friendly. The service is good. We had amazing dessert - baklava.

We came twice in this restaurant, the octopus is very very good, actually everything is excellent. Small place with a nice owner away from the crowded street. Just go and enjoy

This is a fabulous ‘local’ taverna slightly off the main town square that is really worth a visit. It looks rather plain, no frills, but the food is amazing and I highly recommend it. In particular the octopus is spectacular.

We had an excellent bottle of local red which the owner recommended.

The owner is charming and friendly, service is great and the food excellent, doesn’t get much better.

This place is just round the corner from our hotel and looked very much like a locals' place. We assumed it would be low frills, relatively low end nosh but, as we'd had a fancy, expensive meal the night before we thought we'd give it a try.

We were right about no frills but very wrong indeed about low end.

We get a table by the window. The guy is a bit gruff initially as some Greeks tend to be until they know you. He says the octopus is 'the best' and my wife orders that. I order grilled barbounia - which turns out to be red mullet. We get a cucumber and tomato salad and fries and bread.

The salad is very nice. The octopus arrives next. There is loads of it - about 4 tentacles rather than the one you often get and its nothing like the nice but tough stuff we have had before. Its super tender and quite fishy. A revelation.

Then my fish come - 5 of them, heads on and lightly battered. Its nice light food and goes great with the salad and chips. We were wrong to think that the place was downmarket and he was totally right that the octopus is 'the best'.

The owner brought us baclava on the house to finish which is the best I’ve ever had. We asked if they made it - they did and he said it was 'the best' - again he was right. My wife speaks Greek and they chatted a bit. He said that his place would be number one but it does not have a view. I suspect he’s right. The fish is all fresh from the local market. He has been there 30 years and says he does alright. You should go, you'll be impressed. €38 including a bottle of beer and 1/2 kg house wine. Splendid.
