“Lovely pool, refreshed and good size villa, suited us very well.”

Casa Grove is a lovely, good sized, family-friendly villa approx 10 minutes walk from the centre of Guia.

The welcome package was a pleasant surprise and gratefully received following our late night arrival.

There are three double/twin rooms, two upstairs with balcony/terrace (main bedroom has a huge terrace and en suite) and one twin downstairs. We also made use of the futon/double sofa bed in the lounge area, as there were seven of us on our trip (4 adults and 3 children) there are also three bathrooms. Two of the bathrooms and the kitchen had been completely refurbished/ refitted and the pictures reflect the modern and clean update perfectly.
The ensuite bathroom was a little dated, though it was a good size and the shower was nice and powerful.

The TV offered suitable channels for us when children sheltered from the mid day heat and Internet access required own roaming which was intermittent.

The pool was very well situated (in the sunshine all day) with plenty of sun beds, a large parasol / umbrella and outside shower. We spend lots of our time cooling off around the pool as the temperature was 30 degrees and higher most days during our late July-early August stay.

The fans ran all night in the absence of air con, which would be a great improvement to this villa. It is certainly set up for holiday rental with limited glasses and cupboard stores and little around to suggest the owner stays here very often. (Compared to other places we gave stayed in Guia.)

Both Tony, the property Manager and Carlos the Pool maintenance man were very pleasant and helpful to us throughout our stay and responded to queries promptly.

The gardens are pretty but due to falling leaves we had to use the pool net every day to clear the debris. We did have a slight problem with the water level of the pool and unfortunately the hot tub didn't work but both men had noted that these were issues they were aware of and working on. It was a shame as the hot tub was the selling point for us, but the weather was able to make up for it and the pool was lovely and warm from the day-long sunshine.

The gardeners arrived once during our stay, the penultimate day, when we were all around the pool. Unfortunately they didn't approach us to advise of their planned work and set the strummer and leaf blower off without warning. It would have been easier if we were out if the way as the leaves blew in the pool and into drinks etc.

The maids would have prepped the villa prior to our arrival and we were disappointed that they only visited once mid-stay. That is probably adequate for most on a weekly stay, with towel and bed sheet change half way through but we felt that it was probably inadequate for two weeks, so washed our own towels in between. We have also been spoilt by other villa stays in Guia where the maid And pool guy have visited 6 out if 7 days! The rug looked lovely on our arrival and whilst we swept it daily, it could have done with a vacuum when the maids/cleaners came in.

That said, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We enjoyed take away Piri Piri chicken from the Palladuim restaurant a number of times and sat on the terrace to enjoy a few relaxed evenings.

Other nights we ate out at The Palladium, The Girassol, Sao Domingoes & Alfredos. We went to the Guia Football Club cafe in town for lunch at very reasonable prices and ventured into Albefeira for breakfast and evening meals.

Overall, We had a fab time on holiday and a pleasant stay at Casa Grove. We will likely book this villa again in the future.

Note: It is situated on a main road in / out of the village, the villa wasn't overlooked which was great. While the traffic didn't bother us, some people might like to be further secluded/ off the beaten track and you would need to be careful when walking the road with small children.
And with flat access and downstairs bathroom and bedroom, I think this villa could be suitable for wheelchair users as well as elderly guests or those less confident of stairs etc.

“Lovely villa, very relaxing holiday, lovely clean pool, well worth visiting”

We have just returned from a lovely relaxing holiday at Casa Grove,we had such a relaxing holiday at this lovely villa. The owner has recently fitted a wet room on the ground floor, there are 2 more bathrooms upstairs. The owner has also had a new kitchen fitted. There is a caretaker who lives locally who is fluent in English & extremely helpful. The villa is situated not far from a main road, which is not very busy at all, & you certainly cannot hear traffic at night.
Although the villa has no air conditioning, it is a very cool dwelling & there are electric fans if needed. There was a washing machine,& Dishwasher!
The pool was very clean, an outdoor BBQ for cooking your evening meals, which my husband altered to make it more efficient(he's a very versatile man.) It is about 10 minutes from a supermarket by car. The only thing we would have liked would have been a safe for keeping our money & passports, but the villa has an alarm system which was reassuring. We would recommend this villa to our friends,& would certainly return there in the future.

We booked this villa in June 2010 & had a great holiday. The cleaner & caretaker were brilliant, very welcoming & helpful, house & garden was spotless. Situated in a great spot, cheap restaurants, cheap taxi's to the main strip.
All of us was impressed & will be rebooking for 2012.

“There are much better villa options in Guia!!”
Reviewed 21 May 2011 for a stay in May 2011

If you are looking for a quiet relaxing holiday in top class surroundings unfortunately this is not the villa for you. Having visited Guia last year we fell in love with this quaint village, so were keen to revisit. Unfortunately we were unable to book the previous villa we had so Casa Grove seemed the ideal option for my partner, myself and his two 20 year old sons and there girlfriends, from the description given. The villa is situated on the main road from Guia to Albuferia, which has no pavement for about 800m and is quite dangerous and the traffic can be heard through out the night. The villa was dated, all bathrooms need ripping out and modernising as there were cracks in the bath, plus mould and rust. The kitchen was of about the same standard, and the cooker should have been condemned. There was no maid service all week, and I had to contact the owner back in England to get any clean towels. We arrived at the start of the holiday season in May, yet the garden furniture had seen better days, and the only parasol available had mould around the edge. On the plus the pool was of a good size.
