We visited here one night a few weeks ago whilst staying in the area in a large holiday let down the road. There were 12 of us but they managed to fit us in for one night that week, which was great (it is a fairly small place). When we arrive we were welcomed at the door and from then on the service was fantastic and we were made to feel really welcome. It is a lovely little pub and the food was seriously, seriuosly good. Proper home cooking to die for! Everyone enjoyed it even the kids had no complaints! When you read about how and why the Strone Inn is run, it makes that even more special. Many thanks for a nice visit and good look to you for the future, hope to be back again one day.

Thanks for the great review. We had a night off when you were in but as I'd expect you were well looked after. We don't claim to be anything other than a welcoming village pub that serves seriously good, fresh, home cooked food and while being small we can't cater for everyone we do try our best to make sure all our visitors have the best time possible.

Hope to see you again in the future

Stephen

It’s been many years since I have been up this way and visited recently with friends for drinks whilst staying at Blairmore....what a change since visited many many moons ago, always was great location but now decorated beautifully with welcoming atmosphere. Nice to see two great venues doing well alongside each other in the area (Ardentinny Inn)

Hi Liz

It’s lovely to hear that you’ve been back to the Strone after many years and obviously great that you like the changes myself and Shaun have made over the past 4 years. When the Ardentinny opened many people predicted our business would suffer. In fact the opposite has been true as now people stop and have a relaxing pre or post dinner drink with us as well as eating at the bistro. In fact, as far as we are concerned, the sooner the Whistlefield, Coylet, Cothouse and Kilmun inns re-open the better it will be for the Shore in general.
Hopefully by your next visit you will have them all to choose from!

Driving along enjoying fantastic views and felt sorry for the driver who thankfully had their attention on the road so stopped off for a soft drink and sat out the front to enjoy the view and the afternoon sun. Well worth a stop.
Lady behind the bar was also very welcoming .

We have been to this inn many times and are always happy we made the trip. The menu is not large, but there's always something to suit everyone's taste....and very tasty it all is! They serve good, solid home-cooked pub food (fantastic steak and ale pie, mac and cheese, fish and chips, etc), but in addition they offer creative dishes that highlight local and seasonal ingredients. And be sure to save room for one of the home-baked deserts...not to be missed! While the food is really, really good, perhaps the best thing about the Strone Inn is the atmosphere, and that's down to the owners and staff. It's cozy, relaxed and comfortable. It's also very apparent that this is a real community pub, as evidenced by all the events they lay on (fireworks, Christmas parties, Burns Night, to name only a few). However, it's not just about the local community, as holiday-makers and other visitors are also always made very welcome. On a practical note, it's always best to book your meals in advance.

Lovely COMMUNITY pub that needs Your support, so if you are passing through please call in and have a drink/meal, these pubs can not survive without your help... The owners do not take any money from the pub in fact they put in more from their own pocket to keep this pub open for the community.... We were made to feel so welcome and def be going back again during our stay in the area.

Thanks for your kind words. The Pub is a labour of love for us and it means a lot when people like yourself take the time to show their appreciation
