My husband and I spent two days at the Narrow Water castle apartment. It is set in a superb location within the gorgeous grounds of the castle. The apartment is ground floor so very suitable for those with children or with mobility issues.
It is well laid out, large living dining area, open fire which we really enjoyed cozying up to on the cold evenings.
Kitchen is well equipped for those wishing to cook. One of the bedrooms as an ensuite shower room which was great. Electric shower , pressure was woeful but it does the job. There's a TV in the living room and one in the master bedroom . The aerial lead was broken in the bedroom so the TV couldn't be used, it made no difference to us but would take 5 mins to put a new end on and to make functional .
Heating wise the apartment cools very quickly once off. You can feel certain areas of coolness as you move from room to room where perhaps insulation is lacking. We found that if you turned the temperature up and kept it on a constant the place was toasty and with the open fire it was superb.
There are terrific walks around the castle grounds and indeed the local area.
Overall it's worth a visit !
We were delighted with our stay at the apartment. To stay in such a stylish yet comfortable place, part of the "big house" and so close to stunning scenery was such an excellent way to spend half term. The apartment was elegantly decorated and the candles and the open wood fire a nice touch. We have two children who were delighted with their room, the nearby forest trails and castle gardens. We had a great mini break and the apartment is a good location that explore Warrenpoint, Kilbroney, Slieve Gullion and the general Carlingford area. Lots to do and lots of lovely places to eat. Five star.
This was the perfect house for our group of two couples. It is elegant and well appointed so it fit the 17th century building, but updated and modern with a well stocked kitchen and lovely bathrooms. The grounds are delightful and we enjoyed several long walks, sometimes accompanied by the castle's sweet dog, Hersey. We happened to be there during the annual cross country bike race on the grounds, but even then we felt comfortable and had plenty of privacy. A short drive to town and we found lovely eating options, and it is not far from anywhere in the country. I would definitely recommend it.

Absolutely gorgeous setting to start with the drive along the road with the lough beside and gorgeous mountains is spectacular. The driveway up to the castle will have you going WOW! Beautiful inside, very comfortable with everything you need and again stunning views from the windows. Ramona has a wealth of local knowledge , giving great advice as to were to visit and things to do a see. A gorgeous forest park nearby having a NARNIA section was one of the things we visited and really enjoyed. If you are looking for somewhere to feel like a queen this is the place to be We loved it and hopefully one day will return
This place is totally amazing and a must for any traveller to Ireland.
The host, Ramona, humbly welcomes you to this lush apartment with homemade scones, real butter, fresh milk and tea and coffee at hand after your journey.
Whilst she explains how everything works and all the amenities you have;internet, washing machine, dishwasher etc you are in awe of this grand apartment-one feels regal and belonging to aristocracy especially as this apartment is situated on the grounds of Narrow Water Castle itself.
The decor is of what you would expect from a room in a castle with its Queen Anne free standing bath and large teakwood wardrobes with automans and dressing tables to compliment the furniture in each room...large grand beds with duck down duvets and Irish linen trows and a blanket box with hand knitted shawl for the short walk to the coal house out back to restock on logs, kindling and coal for the open fire on those cold nights...my god this place is so amazing and lush!!
It has central heating too with easy controlable thermostat. Chandeliers with dimmer switch to create the mood by the open fire with church candles in Turkish lanterns and candelabras. ..perfect!
I was holding an event at Narrow Water Castle-St Patrick's Day Ball-so this place was perfect for us to stay, get changed, and just go back and forth when needed.
The scenery is breathtaking in that it encompasses a patchwork quilt of green fields, farmland, forests, mountains, from the north and south of Ireland, rivers, loughs, and huge ships docking into Warrenpoint harbour in the misty evenings...sounding their foghorns on arrival so that you are aware they are docking....
This magical place is a must see must stay at least once in your lifetime. But shhhh,we don't want everyone to know!
Thank you Ramona, you have a real flare for decor, comfort and style. I hope to be back in the near future and will be telling all those whom I know will love to share such a wonderful experience.
