We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights as part of a Road Scholar hiking trip. The rooms were large and comfortable, with a good number of electric outlets not usually found in an older hotel. The view from our room and balcony was of the meadow that is part of the commune's property, looking to the Gran Paradiso mountain. Apart from the hikes led by a local guide, it was very easy to venture out independently for some wonderful walks and hikes. In late afternoon, the cattle and their bells assembled in the meadow before being led in for the night, and now that I'm home I think I'll need to buy some wind chimes that have that same mellow sound, so accustomed to it have I become.
The bathroom was a moderate size, but keeping water from the shower inside the tub was a challenge. The small amount of glass was not adequate to the task. I did not find the beds to be very comfortable, but that could be personal preference since I did not hear others in my group complaining of this problem.
We ate breakfast and dinner at the hotel. The food was ok, nothing special, but the coffee was flavorful and strong, which I really appreciated, having spent a week in Switzerland where the coffee was weak. There is a shaded outdoor area where we enjoyed an afternoon coffee. I think I would return to this hotel just for the coffee. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
We stayed at the hotel in the off season, so it seems most of our group had rooms with balconies overlooking the meadows and the mountains. During a busier time of year, I assume that would not always be possible, so I would advise checking that if staying there independently.
