We have family in Skipton and whenever we get the chance, we love doing the Burnsall to Grassington walk (and back again!)
The highlight of this walk in recent times has been the pit stop at the Corner House Cafe in Grassington.
On each occasion, we've called in for lunch. It's only a small place and as we're a group of 5, it can be pot luck whether or not we get a table. On our first visit, we shared one large table outside. On our second visit, we had to split across two tables which were only really designed for two people each. In the meantime, two people were taking up a table which would have easily seated 5 people. Maybe a bit of feedback here to encourage couples to take the smaller tables. Surely it makes more business sense too?
Anyway, this wasn't an inconvenience as it was a glorious day and we were in a real sun trap.
On each occasion, the vast majority of us ordered the cheeseburgers. These are presented on an individual board with a beautiful and artistic salad accompaniment (spiral cucumber, home made purple coleslaw etc!), a pot of chips and a ramekin of ketchup. Price is £8.75. On the second occasion, I ordered the smoked haddock and chive fishcakes with a similarly flashy salad and some nice squirts of tartare sauce. Price was £8.25.
All of this was washed down with excellent pots of tea and a deliciously moreish vanilla milkshake.
Bill for the 5 of us was not much over £50 on each occasion. The food quality is truly excellent and the portion sizes are very generous indeed.
The jewel in the crown here though, is the service. The lady with the short brown bob is fantastic and runs a tight ship. Very attentive, friendly, and making sure that everyone is seen to. Even filling up dog bowls when needed!
We probably won't bother looking elsewhere in Grassington now as we're so pleased with the food and service here.
