Friendly and down to earth. A good menu catering for good value as well as higher quality more expensive items to suit everyone.
Highly recommended, definitely work going to, over the weekend you will need to book... will be back.

Stayed two nights at 278 on Main.lovely location,just off the main square,but all shops etc were easily accessed .our beautiful large room was tastefully fitted out,and vey clean.The staff ,very courteous and went out of there way to assist us .this made our stay most enjoyable.We ate one night there ,the oxtail dish was superb.

Comfortable stay close to centre. Adequate breakfast. Good service and very accommodating to our specific requests. We stayed with our 7 month old son and they were very helpful with our requests. It is worthwhile however requesting one of the rooms with a view.

The staff were lovely and accommodating. The room was comfortable and neat. The bathroom was the perfect setting for some rest and relaxation. Location was great for day time walks in and around Clarens but also removed enough for a restful evening. Great stay all around.

Beautifull self catering two bedroom place on the Golf Estate, very well decorated, clean, cosy, fireplace and under floor heating, a place that you definitely recommend to others as everything you need was there.

The location is perfect and the Tuscan room was nice enough, with a huge bathroom and soaker tub (which we did not use). However, the room is stuck down a side alley and is dark with no view. We would have preferred one of the balcony rooms with a view. And, at $81, this was one of the more costly places we stayed. Breakfast was fine and filling. There are quite a few choices in this town - in fact, it seems to be all restaurants and guesthouses. I thought one day here was enough. Though charming, the art galleries had the same unattractive artwork, and this was one of the main reasons we stopped.

Dear William
Thank you for taking the trouble to review 278 On Main. We always appreciate your effort. I am sorry you were not able to have an upstairs room but it was a very busy race weekend in Clarens and we had been booked for a long time. You only booked two days before arriving so then the choice is limited. I have many repeat guests specifically asking for the room we gave you. Yes we are a tourist town filled with restaurants and Art galleries. It is what keeps us going and employs many local people from the area.
