A very laid back little Rissole, basic but friendly ! But the bistro is the saviour, a great home cooked style meal, well priced , quick & tasty ! What more can you ask for ? Plus the beer was well priced at $5.50 a Schooner , a great little south coast stop !!

I wanted to go on a weekday train trip from Sydney to somewhere on the south coast with a place to have lunch. I checked out the reviews for Kiama, Austinmere, Coledale and Scarborough. Coledale won hands down and the reviews here were spot on. A lovely 70year old RSL club with a beaut bistro with a good selection of meals all at reasonable prices and with beers on tap it hit the spot. The Parmi was huge and delicious with salad and the rump steak with home made tasting pepper sauce, chips and salad was tender and cooked to perfection. The staff here are very friendly. We also caught up with a friend here and we decided we will make this a monthly trip for lunch and a catch up. There are some good beach access walks close by and the Coledale station is only 200 m walk back uphill from the club so you can have that beer and train it home. We plan to come back here and support a great little club and bistro.

Really enjoyed having dinner at this place. The inside is a little outdated I think and the area where you order is small so there is not too much space to sit inside...however there is a fair bit of space outside (again outdated) and it's very pretty with mountains on one side and the water on the other. Parma was pretty good too!

We went here twice - once on a weekday evening, and once on Friday night. Other than the obvious crowd on a Friday, the kitchen was also obviously struggling given the time it took for food, and the quality took a significant downturn on the Friday. But, to focus on the upside, this place in midweek was great. It doesn’t try to be anything it’s not, but excels on what it is ie a great, old-fashioned rsl. Great bar, great food, low low prices. Go midweek, and you’re in for a treat.

We called in on a Friday lunch and outside were a few utes which we took as a good sign as this was were the tradies eat. Walked in and greeted by the staff. Sat in the bistro and ordered hamburgers. Everything was fresh and crunchy chips. Basic interiors but a little gem. We would return.
