“Enchanting!”
Reviewed 8 March 2016 for a stay in March 2016

Enchanting hideaway in the middle of the woods. We arrived to a warm and homely cottage with a beautiful interior. Enjoyed a walk around the woods in the snow! Adored the wood fired hot tub, perfect for soothing weary legs and listening to the sound of the forest at dusk. Close to Hay Bluff for energetic walking on the mountains and close to Hay on Wye for lovely independent shops. Thank you Emma for allowing us to stay in such a beautiful cottage - we will definitely return. Oh, and we LOVED Frank!

“Fantastic get away!”
Reviewed 4 January 2016 for a stay in December 2015

Me & my partner have just returned from this wonderful cottage in a great setting with the Black Mountains as the back drop. If you want to be left alone in peace & quiet, this is the place!

The cottage itself has a homely, cosy feeling. The log fire was fantastic for us after getting in from a walk with gale force wind & rain. The kitchen was large & well equipped so we could eat in if we liked. The bedrooms are large in size with comfy bedding. The bathroom was also large in size with plenty of space. I would love to give feedback on the hot tub but we were unable to use it due to the weather conditions, Emma refunded the cost of the logs which was a nice touch.

The cottage is remote, with access via a narrow country lane & then 5/10minutes down forestry roads. Don't let this put you off though! Within the 200 acres of forest are beautiful waterfalls, which is well worth walking to (especially after the rain we had!). The small town of Hay-on-Wye is only a 20minute car journey away where you can pick up most things for your stay.

Emma couldn't do enough for us, she left champagne & chocolates for us on arrival (as requested), she even dropped the hot tub instructions off to us late at night once we'd realised they were missing (again in the wind & rain!). It was a memorable trip as I proposed to my girlfriend, to which she said yes!

If you are after a remote getaway, I couldn't think of anywhere better.

“Peace and fresh air”
Reviewed 3 November 2015 for a stay in October 2015

If you want secluded, then this place hits the mark. The cottage is of a really good standard throughout. All towels/bedding is fresh and clean; all amenities in good working order etc etc. Access has been mentioned - we have a car with low profile tyres but managed to get to and from the cottage with no problem - would be different in snow or extreme rain perhaps, but we were fine.
Our kids loved being out in the middle of nowhere and we all felt very safe throughout our stay. Communication and helpfulness from Emma was excellent and adds a personal touch which is welcome - she kindly carved pumpkins as it was Halloween:-)

“Secluded woodland setting - beautiful and away from it all!”
Reviewed 23 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We had a fantastic week at the cottage with our 2 large dogs. The cottage location at the top of the hill overlooking the Black Mountains is fantastic. It is reached via a forest tracks through the woods. There is plenty of woodland to explore and a nice waterfall. We were very lucky with the weather and spent most of our time outside in the garden. The hot tub was much appreciated. Views from the cottage are beautiful. A gate to close off the garden would be great, but we managed to park the car across the entrance and blocked the last gap as a make shift.

“Very special place”
Reviewed 9 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We holidayed here for a week with our three young boys - we all absolutely loved it! The cottage is in the most amazing location with stunning views towards the black mountains. Lovely to be able to let the boys just explore in safety in the woods all around the house - the loved making dens and playing games. We loved the quiet, peace, views, hot tub and local walks. I really would recommend this place.

Emma was fantastic - attentive, helpful and amenable at every turn (even rushed out to give us a jump start when one of our delightful boys had left the internal light on in the car resulting in a flat battery!).
