“Freshly cooked fresh fish”
Review of Francos Fish Bar

Francos Fish Bar
Ranked #11 of 86 Restaurants in Port Talbot
Price range: US$3 - US$26
Description: Fish and chips always taste better by the sea, and Franco's fish bar has been at the heart of Aberavon sea front since 1970. We've grown over the years, out of the original tiny shed to a bigger takeaway and not we have a fantastic custom built premises. We have built a new larger takeaway so on those glorious sunny days you'll be back on the beach in no time. More exciting is our fantastic new restaurant, serving a variety of fish, salads, homemade pies and daily specials, and of course proper chippy chips (although on the restaurant side the chips have been cooked twice to make them crispier), all with our fantastic view over Swansea bay and the best sunsets around.

There is nothing more satisfying or good value than fresh fish and chips which we had at Francos. Food was hot, fresh and reasonably priced and comforting on a particularly cold and wet day. We've never been disappointed at the food at this friendly, little cafe. You may have to wait a little for your food as it can be very busy.

From booking right to leaving, we had great service. I’m vegan and we chose this place following a search for suitable dining. Service was top notch through - no one could’ve been more helpful! I had the vegan curry followed by mango and coconut cake (sickly sweet, but to die for!). Others in the party also had enjoyable, tasty, well-cooked meals and sweets. Can’t fault it!!

I hate to write bad reviews but we just had an awful takeaway from This fish bar. Paid nearly £10 for three small chips, pie and sausage in batter. Also had pot of curry sauce. The chips unfortunately were not good. A lot of them had black spots on them and had a grey bruised appearance. The taste was not good either like the oil needed changing maybe?
My sausage in batter was over cooked.
Sadly most of it ended up in the bin, what a waste.
I really should have gone back to the shop but I just hate doing that makes me feel very uncomfortable.

So will just avoid in future. Shame as it's the only fish and chip shop on the front. Could do with a little competition.

We called in for a takeaway coffee. A latte for each adult. It was really nice. And the cost was good. We also all called in for a cheeky wee. And the staff were fine with it. Thank you...

Popped in here with my husband and parents and was pleasantly surprised. Staff are very friendly indeed which is always a bonus in my eyes. We only had a hot drink and a dessert but was very nice. Definitely recommend
