Ranikhet is a quaint cantonment town in Almora district of Uttarakhand. The air has a cold nip now .The atmosphere has a feeling of discipline since you see army people ,cars moving around. The golf course ground is a part of this town and is one of the highest golf ground in Asia and is 9 hole. The golf course is surrounded by green vegetation or forest I should say is breathtaking and mesmerising.

Walking into the golf club at Ranikhet is like walking into the past. The polished timber of the entry hall is how it was in the days of the Raj, and the bar looks as if the former British occupants left yesterday. There's a menu - we had tea and snacks that were well presented and tasty.
It was a completely fascinating window into a bygone era - see it before it disappears.

The Beautiful cantonment town of Ranikhet is located in Almora District of Almora, in the state of Uttarakhand at an elevation of 1,892 meters above sea level. Ranikhet, literally meaning queens' Land is a place related to the legends of Himalayas and gets its name from a local legend Rani Padmini. According to historical accounts, the Rani Padmini of Kumaon was enchanted by this Beautifull hill paradise. King Sudhardev obliged her, by building a palace here for the queen and named the place Ranikhet (the queen's field). Ranikhet Golf Course is one of the highest golf courses in Asia. Ranikhet Golf Course is known as Golf ground by locals, located at a distance of 5 KM from main Ranikhet town. Ranikhet Golf Course is a 9-hole course making it one of the prime attractions of Ranikhet for tourists. The green meadow of the golf course at such high altitude is breathtaking. The golf club provides membership plans for outsiders as well

Spend an evening here, with your family and watch the sun go down. Its a great open space at Ranikhet. The landscape is super green & fantastically maintained by defense force.

Ranikhet is small town of Haldwani district. I spent the new year Eve there . Hotels are of average quality as one can expect in a small town. But it's free of tourist rush. Many places to visit nearby. One of the best is golf ground. There one can spent leisure time with friends in bright sunshine in a cool climate.worth visiting once. Of course one can't expect malls and shopping there.
