What do you want from a restaurant?
Great food, great service and a great setting. Oh and good prices.
This has it all.
Probably the best Kefalonian pie and lots of other pie variations in Sami. The waiters, Yannis and George not only gave a great service but were very informative about the different dishes and the way they were cooked. The restaurant got its name from the boat yard and repairers that once stood there.

This restaurant is on the edge of town with a delightful terrace overlooking the water. We had large prawns, courgette n feta 'balls', anchovies, Greek salad and a litre of rose plus coffees. Just under E40. Great value and friendly service.

Sited in between the Ferry ramp an the local harbour, with views of Ithaca and Effimia ,with tables beneath the Eucalyptus trees, a very pleasant venue away from the rent-a yachts that crowd, the once pleasant fishing quay.
You may look down the side near the clean toilets to see MaMa peeling potatoes or drying oregano.
The food is fresh traditional Greek, try the Beef Stiffardo with shallots and capers or the Kefalonian meat, or Octopus pie.
Service was good with warm friendly staff.
As the trendy deco restaurants eclipse tradition, ask them one question “ are your chips frozen”

Simple, clean decor giving a relaxed atmosphere. Roadside location with tables undercover or outside, all with beautiful sea view. Friendly staff. Lamb chops were delicious and the fish was fresh and tasty. Reasonably priced.

The restaurants in Sami are concentrated in the marina area and we found them reasonably similar in quality and price. We had a bad experience at Karnagio though. My wife ordered a main meal and asked if she could have a small salad with it rather than the listed salad which she knew would be too filling. Our waiter, Yanis ( not sure of spelling) told her that they couldn’t do a small Greek salad because they were unable to cut Feta cheese into smaller pieces????? Our starter was fine but we were half way through it when the main course arrived. Yanis told us that here in Greece we have the meal altogether. We were still quite relaxed though and asked for the WiFi passcode. Yanis told us a code but it didn’t work. By this time we were beginning to think that our waiter was a pathological liar but not so. We asked for the bill and he said yes in half an hour. This was true despite my wife going in and asking if it could be hurried up because we were meeting friends. ( maybe the lying was contagious because we didn’t actually have any friends to meet)
We wondered whether it was just us but another customer asked for the WiFi code and was told “ I don’t know” and another family walked out when told that he didn’t have time to mess about doing vegetarian food for two children with their parents. Looking at all the good reviews maybe we were there on an “off” day but we wouldn’t go back there.
