Went to the marine reservoir with some friends and our new snorkelling kit.
The water was clear and it was like swimming in an aquarium, Huge numbers of fish loads of different types and sizes. Really spectacular, and FREE.
HOWEVER there are only three cafes down at the beach and the other choice is to pack up and drive for twenty minutes, so we checked them out, the first was mostly drinks and the one on the end the only restaurant was shut on a Monday (In August!?!)
so the only choice was the snack bar in the middle.
WOW it was bad, rude and surly service, really really horrible food, with one meal never arriving, and bloody expensive too (5€) for a portion of the oiliest chips I have ever tasted, I think it's the first time I have ever known y 7yr old son to leave most of a plate of chips, absolutely rank.
Avoid like the plague.

We loved the snorkeling trail here. It was easy and free to park and we brought our own kit along so it was free. There were places to hire kit if you needed it though. Even though we were snorkeling in July we were very glad we'd worn wetsuits as after over an hour in the water we were very cold!! Loads of fish to see and the buoys along the route provided information and a place to rest and catch up with each other. Our children (10 and 8) are new to snorkeling and loved it.

We brought our own flippers and mask and really enjoyed the different small and larger fish. The underwater fauna was great but I'd hoped to see more flora. The best part is in between stations 4 and 5. There is a freshwater shower on the beach. And I had the best tuna sandwich ever at the sandwich bar on the beach. The shower stops at 6PM by the way. Same for the public toilet facilities.

This our second year of visiting the underwater reserve (several times) and it is a wonderful experience for all the family. You can just stand knee high in water and see anenomes and so many different types of fish. Invest in a mask and snorkel and there is even more to see and you can go from bouy to bouy or just float about. It is like floating in an aquarium. If you don't use flippers then get take some beach shoes as the rocks are hard and slippery. Also try and get there early as lots of splashing people scare the fish away.

Its great but be sure to go when the sun is bright and the water is not too murky - otherwise visibility is poor.
