We took a boat trip around the area and were fascinated by it. It was stunning to see flocks of flamingos in their natural habitat. Our trip also included lunch on the boat. The lunch was pretty poor really, comprising battered pieces of various fish and eels and indifferent fries. Still we went to see the area rather than eat the lunch so that didn't matter much in the end. If you are in this part of Italy make the effort to visit you won't be disappointed.

We were two grownups and four children aged 7 to 11 years who participated in the afternoon excursion with the fisherman.
Very interesting excursion to learn about the valli, eel fishing and of course to see the lovely flamingos in the sunset.
Excellent guide who was fluent in English and also interesting for the kids.
The kids especially enjoyed fishing with the eel-net at the fishing station.

Joined the 15:00 trip to the fisherman house. Beautiful area and after 5 min ride we passed the flamingoes which were far away at the other side of a dyke / channel wall which made it difficult to observe them. After a few minutes they were to far away and the last 20 min to the fisherman House it was mainly seagulls which could be seen. Spend almost an hour at old badly maintained house were the guide told passionated about the eel fishermen and the process to preserve - ALL in ITALIAN - so it was a long hour waiting with 2 kids.
The return ride was less interesting with almost no birds in a straight channel.
After returning we walked around in the area where we saw as many birds as on the trip - including the flamingoes which were even further away as there is no access to the area.
Conclusion average experience which could have been better if the guide had spoken in English - our family was the only non Italians in the group of ~40 people. There might be more birds in the early/late tours.
The kids (4 and 7) enjoyed it but thought the stop was too long. The boat is fine but only half is covered to protect for sun/rain.

We were lucky to see pink flamingos during the tour! It was a nice, easy boat ride, enjoyed some wine on board and had a few minutes to explore.

For some reason it I very hard to find nature places in Italy. There are few signs and far between. I am not even sure this is the same boat ride we went on. Anyway there are 14 thousand Flamingos to see in addition to may other bird species. They also take you to the old cannery. A bit hard with guide trying to give the tour in 4 different languages.
