We had a great day out with Jose. Although we didn't see any lynx we found plenty of signs (tracks, poo and scratching posts) and saw loads of other species including fantastic birds like Imperial eagle, black / griffon vulture, hoopoe, to name just a few This really is a beautiful landscape to visit and Jose is an excellent guide and great company. We will definitely be back!

We spent the day with Jose looking for Lynx in Andujar Nature Park. Although we didn't see any Lynx, we had a wonderful day with Jose, who is both very knowledgeable, and a very good wildlife spotter. Highly recommended - I, for one, plan to come back next winter to try again!

We wanted to travel to Spain to see the Iberian Lynx plus other wildlife and birds. Having researched a few UK companies we found “Iberian Lynx Land” based in Spain which had excellent reports so, we decided to deal directly with José Luis Sánchez.

We arranged our own travel to Spain and to the Jaén province, then José Luis coordinated perfectly our entire 7 day wildlife tour including the wonderful accommodation. Our stay commenced at Las Casas Del Consul for 3 nights which was a lovely historic hotel well located in the old town of Úbeda and included an extremely good and varied breakfast.

Early in the next two mornings, José Luis collected us in his 4 x 4, with packed lunches on board, we spent the days in Sierras de Cazorla Segura y Las Villas Natural Park and surrounding area. He showed us a wealth of wildlife, birds, including raptors, along with stunning scenery, extraordinary rock formations and waterfalls. The first snows of the year arrived here during our initial afternoon, through which, undeterred from his mission to show us everything this fabulous area had to offer, José drove superbly. Rather than being a disadvantage, the wildlife was easier to spot against the bright white background.

On the third day, José collected us with our luggage and we spent the day in the Sierra de Mágina Natural Park. The scenery again was absolutely breathtaking, a variety of wildlife and the many birds he showed us included Bonelli’s Eagles, Golden Eagles, Griffon Vultures and Crossbills.

At the end of the day, he took us to another charming hotel, La Caracola Hotel Rural which was in a gorgeous setting in Sierra de Andújar Natural Park. All meals were included, the food was varied and delicious, being freshly prepared, the rooms were warm, nicely decorated and comfortable.

The next four days were originally primarily looking for the Iberian Lynx and José Luis’s superb expertise, joined by fellow guide, Miguel who was also extremely knowledgeable did not disappoint. Their spotting and teamwork were absolutely brilliant, we were incredibly lucky to have 12 sightings of Lynx during those days. Some were really quite close, and, for those which were a distance away, we were still able to see reasonably clearly through the high quality spotters José & Miguel brought. The icing on the cake was, for about and hour, watching a fabulous male and female in their mating ritual.

It must be said however, that this area should not be recognised exclusively for Lynx, José showed us many mammals such as the entertaining European Otter, the agile Ibex and impressive birds such as the Spanish Imperial Eagle, Black Vulture, not to mention the Hawfinch and Ashen Winged Magpie.

We had the most amazing tour with José, he has incredible knowledge and passion, unbelievable spotting skills, impressive English and was great company. Miguel was also superb and we enjoyed his company very much too. A totally unfortgettable trip!

Overall, with the most magnificent wildlife and tremendous scenery, the excellent Iberian Lynx Land has bewitched us with beautiful but secret gems set in the Jaén Province.

Picked up early by Jose from the hotel. He seemed warm and friendly and turned out to be very knowledgeable and a great "spotter". From Cazorla, we got into the higher ground of the Sierra quite quickly and Jose was soon pointing out various raptors and other wildlife. I have spent some time in Asturias looking for Bearded Vulture (Lammergeier) with little success, but here, Jose seemed to know exactly where they would be and we were rewarded with fabulous, close views. If in doubt about a day out with Jose, just do it, you'll love it.

Absolutely loved every bit of my stay in Andujar. Jose went out of his way to ensure that I had the best experience and he treated me like an old friend rather than a client.

Having worked in conservation of biodiversity prior to this, Jose had extensive knowledge about the local wildlife, and the ride to and from the airport was filled with enlightening discussions about the conservation efforts and issues in the region.
What's even more remarkable were his spotting skills; identifying animals so far away that they looked just like dots to me. The most exciting of sightings was a mother lynx with a cub on our very first trip to the park!

Would definitely recommend his services for anyone interested in getting the best out of wildlife in Andujar.
