Alfies place @ the Alley is a lovely traditional Maltese townhouse full of character and charm. It is situated in the lovely village of Birgu and is very close to many bars and restaurants. Easy access to bus stops and the ferry to Valletta.
Alfie is a great host, he greeted us at the airport, when we got to Birgu he showed us where all the shops, bars and restaurants were.
Alfie is very friendly, smiley and helpful, he is always available if needed and replies very quickly if you contact him. Alfie provided all the essentials and more. We had a lovely stay at Alfies place @ the Alley.
Thank you very much Alfie.
We couldn't go to Birgu this year as my husband is ill. We are very sad as this is such an amazing place. Close to all amenities restaurants great people so friendly and Alfie is such a great host if you want a great stay in Malta and a true Malta experience book now .
What a fantastic lodging choice we made when we booked Alfie's Place at the Alley.
It is an authentic and comfortable Maltese townhouse loaded with character. Its location in Birgu gave us easy access to the 3 city ferry, bus stops and shops.Just a short ferry ride into Valletta to see the sites. We were able to easily access the entire island with public transit.
Birgu itself is loaded with interesting historical museums and forts.
Our host Alfie, is an incredible gentleman. He is kind, friendly and extremely helpful. Nothing is too much trouble and he responds quickly to any queries.
He truly wants his guests to have a wonderful holiday in his home and country.
We rate him 5 star all the way!
Thanks so much Alfie for the airport pickups and transfers, the local tour of where to go when we first arrived, and the "start up" bread & cheese etc. Especially the cookies!!You're the best and we hope to return to Alfie's Place on the Alley! Cheers
First of all , I have to say that the picture shown is not the place we stayed in. Alfie has two places in Malta and we were in the other one. I am sure the one pictured is very nice but Tripadvisor has got the rentals confused!
Right from the start Alfie could not have been more helpful . We had said we were interested in walking so he emailed us lots of detailed info about walking routes. We had a late arrival so Alfie picked us up from the airport and went out of his way to do detours to show us where we could get the buses and the ferry to Valletta and he told us how to get the best deals on travel tickets. He also showed us round the town square and told us the best places to go for supplies.
The next morning, following Alfie’s advice , we felt very confident about travelling around and , over our 10 day visit, we used the buses and ferries every day.
The Alley was a very comfortable place to stay. It was a quirky and very traditional Maltese house with beautiful arched ceilings. The WiFi was very great and being able to get tv in lots of different languages was a real bonus. We loved the roof terrace and although it was shaded by the time we got back late afternoon, it was great for us Scots to be able to sit outside with t shirts on , in the shade , in November and not be freezing!!
We used lots of local shops and restaurants and had a very friendly experience in them all.
Having visited lots of places over our 10 days, we were very happy that we had chosen to stay in Birgu. It is a beautiful area, very traditional , peaceful and within easy transport reach of anywhere you want to go in Malta.
We will definitely stay in The Alley again if we return to Malta.
Just spent a month at the Alley, what a house, full of character and a brilliant position in the centre of Birgu. If you want a proper Maltese experience this is the place. The owner Alfie is a great bloke, nothing is to much trouble and any problems he is there straight away. Access into Valletta is so easy and cheap, (if you are a senior 90 cents return,) using the ferry which is only a few minutes walk away.
