We had to change a visit to Cordoba because of bad weather so decided to go north east for the sun! Benicarló had been on our radar for some years, so this was a good opportunity to visit on our way back to Santander. The location and close proximity to Peniscola was very important as we just love Paradors.

This Parador is quite old and a little tiered but the management have done a good job to keep it up together. It sits in a good location and is just a few steps to the sea. Its restaurant is very good and some members of the team are excellent. If you get Laura B as your waitress you will be in for a treat. Warm friendly and professional.

This place is a joke. I booked and paid for a Superior room in July last year. On arrival they tried to put me in a single room. Eventually I was able to get a double room but not the Superuor I paid for. On entering the room I discovered exposed live electrical wires in the wardrobe. To cap it all the service in the restaurant is poor. Give this place a wide berth it is terrible.

Inform you taht you stayed in a superior room, number 412 exactly, and how you were not happy with anything since you had arrived and also you had used our breakfast buffet and spent the night at the Parador, you did not pay the bill.

The room was light and spacious and had a nice terrace where we spent most of our time. Location was good (near the sea and bars and restaurants). Parking free of charge.

Not the usual type of ancient monument, but a lovely experience overall with very high standards. The room was clean and peaceful and the Restaurant exceptional. I will definitely stay agin in the new year.
