“Fabulous Vacation Villa”

We arrived in St. Lucia and were greeted by Smallie a local taxi driver o take us to the villa . Marigot Bay is about an hour drive from the villa. Smallie stopped along the way to get a cold drink and also at a grocery store to stock up on items for the week . Smallie was very pleasant and full of local knowledge on things to see . i'm glad he picked us up because navigating there would have been difficult as the island has very few signs. Not even sure if GPS would help. The villa is somewhat secluded and very private nestled on a hillside overlooking Marigot Bay.
Upon arrival we were greeted by Carlos , he helped with the bags and tend to every detail in making us feel at home during our entire stay . Jose , was there and also Miranda our housekeeper to greet us as well. Jose explained all about the villa , the alarm system , the safe , and made us feel very welcome. Jose returned the next day and helped us decide how we would navigate the island and what we would really need to see for a full experience of this beautiful paradise . Lorrie John arranged for our car rental which was delivered to the villa, I highly recommend renting a vehicle for at least part of your stay as the island is so beautiful and day trips away from the villa are very easy to do . Just a note , you'll have to get used to driving on the opposite side of the road. Our friend David did all the driving and he managed well with three navigators ! The villa was so comfortable and had all the things available for a great stay . Comfy beds , large shower , fully equipped kitchen , wireless wifi , satellite tv, gorgeous pool , great views and some really nice things for breakfast start and a six pack of beer ! The attention to detail was magnificent !
We ate at some local places for dinner one being the Rainforest Hideaway another was Chateau Mygo . Rainforest was a more upscale place and Mygo was more relaxed and casual . We also had drinks and dancing one evening at Mygo with the owners Pascale and Franz . They were such fun and made our stay extra enjoyable !
A trip to the Pitons is highly recommended , be sure to stop at Duschene restaurant for nice food and breathtaking views .
A water taxi ride is also a great way to see hidden beaches and parts of the island you normally wouldn't see by car . You'll be able to go snorkelling in several different spots , snorkelling gear is also available from the villa. Smooth Operators , water taxi took us on our journey . Cornelius the captain and his nephew were very good . We were somewhat disappointed that Carlos boat was out of commission and he would have been an awesome water tour guide. We'll have to return once again to experience snorkelling with Carlos as his boat had just been ready as we were leaving .
Pay a visit into Castries and Rodney bay for shopping and beach visits . If you like jet ski's a trip to Pigeon island is a must . Really nice beach there also !
Another nice beach day could be experienced at Ti Kaye , nice restaurant beachside there as well.
Now a day to relax and enjoy that fabulous pool. If you play your cards right Carlos will cook you some of the best fish fritters you'll have in St. Lucia .
The staff will assist you with any of your needs . If you are as lucky as us Pascale and Franz might be there during your stay to make your trip very special. She will guide you to everything you need to see and do .
Very relaxing Special vacation !!

“Fantastic!”

WOW what can I say...I would highly recommend the villa for a long term stay in St Lucia. We were there for 2 weeks and loved it. I read some reviews saying stay in one of the more popular areas such as Piton or Rodney Bay but I am so glad I didn’t listen. I think we would have been disappointed had we not stayed here. Marigot Bay is quiet which is what we loved about out. But ... it is central which was fantastic for us to explore the island. Many reviews said to pick north or south and travel but I think we were in the best part to have an overall experience. The villa had everything! The rooms are beautifully decorated... We enjoyed breakfast and dinner daily overlooking the Bay. When we arrived at the air port they arranged for a driver meet to us. Thank goodness because we never would have found our way. He stopped at the grocery store and we stocked up for a couple of days – we planned to cook in. (But when we arrived there was bread, eggs, milk wine, fruit and the most beautiful flower arrangement. They also have extras like condiments, bug spray, sunscreen)
Carlos took great care of us. When we arrived we were greeted by Carlos – he made the best fish cakes on the island! We also had Carlos cook us an authentic St Lucian meal and he took us to the market with him to pick our fish and grocery shop – loved the experience with Carlos andPasqual. I suggest you get a car for the entire time but our neighbours rented it for a couple days at a time (no need for days you plan to stay by the pool and soak up the sun). We needed it because we liked to explore and the walk into the Bay is not an easy one. You can catch a ride with Carlos or a taxi is $10. There are some great restaurants including the popular Rainforest. But we also enjoyed Chateau Mygo and a wonderful evening sharing tapas at Capella’s. (If you go there the service is exceptional and ask for Genevieve you will not be disappointed)
If you are lucky you will have the opportunity to meet the owners Pasqual and Franz. We were so fortunate! They are wonderful friendly, passionate and hospitable. They took care of everything for us always going over and above – arranged transportation, gave us tips for our stay, and had a BQ for several of the birthdays in the villa. I know we will be friends long after our wonderful vacation. When they are not here Jose their good friend from the Bay comes to the rescue – she is just as amazing and helpful!
The villa had everything we needed. Although they have bug spray I would still bring mosquito coils for night – we did get bit. (end of Jan beginning of Feb)
The grocery store IGA is okay but it is worth a trip to Rodney Bay for the best selection or Castries if you to stock up with fresh veggies and a greater variety of meats etc...
If you are deciding how long to go – 1 week is not enough!

“So Beautiful and Amazing!!! Couldn't ask for a Better Place”
Reviewed 11 September 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Myself plus four friends recently stayed at this beautiful Villa and had an amazing time! We couldn't have asked for a better place to spend a vacation. To start we were picked up at the airport by Smally who was a great Taxi driver. He took us to a little spot at the top of the mountain where we could have a drink on the Atlantic side of the ocean and relax after such a long flight. He then took us to the grocery store so we could pick up some necessities. Getting to the Villa is a little difficult therefore, we were thankful to have Smally show us the way.

Upon arriving to the Villa we were greeted by a beautiful sight! The pool is absolutely beautiful. The Villa was completely opened up and was better than any of the photos. It was amazing and fit our group perfectly. The villa is spacious and comfortable. The master bath is huge and so beautiful. All the doors on the property open up and we kept them open each day to have all the breeze blowing through the villa.

Carlos who lives on the property was a blessing from heaven. He helped us unload the vehicle. He greeted us and hung out with us the entire time. His dog Ocean is also a beautiful soul. I missed my own dogs so much so having Ocean on property was so helpful. Ocean would come over to our Villa and lounge with us almost every morning and afternoon. Carlos would cook for us and we would cook for him. He took us around the island and showed us a beautiful waterful in Canares and took us to the Rum Factory.

Josee and Pier were also very helpful. They arrived the next day to talk to us about how to manuever around the island. Lorrie John is who Pascale told us to use for a rental car was also very helpful. She delivered the rental car the day after we arrived. It was an SUV which was perfect.

Overall it was so amazing. From the beautiful sights that the island has to offer to the wonderful help that the villa provides. We had an amazing time and only wish we could have stayed a bit longer.

For all future guests.... we left a book to sign at the Villa!!!! Make sure you leave your mark!

“Look No Further - Gorgeous Villa and Amazing Hospitality”
Reviewed 5 August 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We travelled with a large group of 12 (mix of adults and children) and rented both the top & bottom units. Units were extremely clean and spacious with new furnishings. View into the bay and ocean was spectacular. But above all, the hospitality from the owners (Pascale & Franz) and caretaker (Carlos) was over the top. From ensuring our stay was comfortable to spending the time to help plan out our stay on the island - we honestly couldn't imagine staying anywhere else on this island. We are a very well travelled group and we have never experienced the love and hospitality like this before. We have made life long friends and hope to travel back to Villa Makambu very soon. The island alone is one that should be visited, but Franz Pascale & Carlos made this one of the best holidays we have shared. Thanks for the fun and laughter and above all, sharing your villa with us.
**Tips: car rental is a must to explore island and bug repellent for the evenings (small sacrifice for paradise)

“Beautiful property and views - fabulous stay”

Villa Makambu is a large and beautifully built and decorated villa. The location up the hill has outstanding views of Marigot Bay from the villa and pool. The pool and area is huge with plenty of loungers and umbrellas. We stayed in the lower level unit and it was well-equipped with most every item you would expect to have at home, was very clean and well maintained. We were extremely impressed with the amount of food/drink items that we were provided upon our arrival – i.e.; a nice bottle of red wine, eggs, bread, milk, juice, fruit etc etc. A really nice touch! We found there was no need for air conditioning as a nice breeze blew throughout the villa daily. The landscaping and foliage in and around the property is very nice - well planned and well taken care of. The area is very private yet you are only a 5 minute drive into Marigot Bay for restaurants etc. We drove to beaches as they are much better than La Bas Beach in Marigot Bay – we went to Ti Kaye Resort twice (located on Anse Cochon cove) and loved it there for the beach, snorkelling and restaurant. Would definitely recommend the Villa Makambu for any couple as we will have wonderful memories of our time in St. Lucia because of this place!!
