“Private cottage with beautiful sunsets and views but still close to town”
Reviewed 1 October 2014 for a stay in September 2014

We chose Table Rock Cottage after looking at (what felt like) every pet-friendly cottage in the area, It didn't disappoint.

The location is great. You look right out on the water and there are several ways to enjoy it -- from the fully-enclosed top deck, from the open deck by the water (take the long walkway) or by walking down a path to the water's edge. From the description, I thought you could go from the deck by the water down to the water, but you can't. I also thought the entry to the water would be big flat rocks (from the photos) but it's more rough than that. There are a lot of gaps in the rocks, which made it fun to climb around on but not like what I imagined from the photos.

The location is also very private because of the trees, even though there are neighbors on both sides. You do see the neighbor's firepit from the top deck, but it's still very private and secluded feeling.

The inside of the house is nicely decorated and easy to keep clean (red leather couches, wood floors). The large windows let you enjoy views in every direction (woods and water). The kitchen has a dishwasher, which is a treat on vacation. The range is newer and was great for cooking at the cottage. We only used the main bedroom, but slept great during our time there. The bed was comfortable. The shower is tiny and is separate from the bathtub. We didn't realize that there was no AC. It wasn't really needed in early September (we opened the large windows while we were home to cool things off during the day) but I wonder about during the warmer part of summer. It was great having a washer and dryer at the house.

We built a fire one night but it smelled up the house. (Yes, the flue was open.) We were wondering if the chimney needed to be cleaned. It was very cozy in the cottage with the fire. And wood was provided.

We never used the outdoor firepit. The location is a little awkward. It would be much nicer on the back of the house somewhere.

The best part of the house is the deck. It's completely enclosed with glass panels. That made it great for our dogs because we didn't have to keep them on a leash to go sit outside and enjoy the views. The front of the house also had a nice lawn area which was good for them.

It's a nice drive from the cottage out to the main road, where you are close to town, the park or anything else you want to do! Look for wildlife on the road. We saw a fox, Great Blue Heron, turtle and other animals on the way into town.

Table Rock Cottage is a very nice home away from home to use as a base while you explore the area. We loved it there!

“A nice experience”
Reviewed 29 September 2014 for a stay in September 2014

The place was nice, clean and the view over the lake was superb.
The weather wasn't the nicest, but we manage to go kayaking a couple of times.
It was a little hard to reach the water with the kayaks because of the large rocks on the path.

“Cozy cottage in terrific location”
Reviewed 7 August 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We have vacationed in Tobermory for 11 out of the last 12 years. We have come to find this one of the most peaceful and relaxing vacations of the year. You can read elsewhere about the numerous trails and parks to explore and the quaint town of tobermory that is only a 10 min drive from the cottage.
This is a single level 'antique' cottage with a beautiful stone fireplace. The living room furniture appears new and is comfortable. The pine walls have been painted and there are new laminate floors. There are three bedrooms that would sleep 2-3 adults and 3 children comfortably (bunk beds). Laundry is provided in the third bedroom closet.
There is a drilled well on site however there is an issue with rust (common in limestone) The water tastes a bit rusty (we used bottled for all purposes). They have a rust purifier, however, it may have needed servicing. A load of laundry came out with rusty discolouration on the whites. The bathroom was in need of some TLC. The shower was very low in pressure and the curtain was in need of replacement. There was a tub also (not used).
Not atypical for these rentals, the bedroom mattress was well worn (springs could be felt in master bedrm). Fortunately we brought a foam mattress topper this year just in case!
We enjoyed the hot tub rental, and yes there is an additional fee. There is a tandem ocean kayak and and a single kayak. The water entry is difficult. Look for calm water, early morn or late afternoon/early evening for your jaunts.
We gave the rating 3 stars primarily for the price associated with the accommodations. (3.5 stars if an option) There are equivalent cottages in the area that are priced more competitively. We note many families have enjoyed their stay at this cottage.

Management Response
11 Aug 2014
Thanks for the feed back we appreciate it. The owners have advised us that the shower curtain has been replaced, the water treatment system serviced and the shower head replaced, hard water from the well builds up calcium in the head restricting flow. All the mattresses In the cottage are less than three years old. The bed in the master bedroom was purchased in 2013.
