Description: At the Black Oystercatcher Restaurant, we live by the season. We serve fresh produce that grows in our own garden as the seasons dictate. As a result, we offer a fresh dining experience, set in a relaxed country atmosphere. Here fresh food, complimenting our boutique wines, is prepared to order and enjoyed at leisure. The seasons also determine the mood at this Cape Agulhas restaurant: the refreshing sea breeze will cool you down in summer, or enjoy our cozy log fires in the winter months.

“Magic in the middle of nowhere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 April 2016 via mobile

Being recommended by the lovely lady working in the Agulhas information centre we decided to give this restaurant a go as we were making our way down to Hermanus. Well it was worth it! The restaurant is situated on a small wine farm, with a tranquill atmosphere. On a sunny day you get to appreciate the beautiful surroundings. The service was good and the food and wine delicious. If you are taking a roadtrip this is worth a stop.

“Cheesecake delicious”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 April 2016

We stopped here on our way from Elim to Bredasdorp and what a lovely surprise. It was not lunch time, so we had tea, cheesecake and chocolate brownies. Both were delicious. The brownies were chewy, as I like them, and the baked cheesecake wonderful.

“Busy in the school holidays”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 April 2016

Five of us had lunch here on the Easter weekend. There were several large family groups which made for a good relaxed but noisy occasion. The menu was quite limited but the food especially the cheesecake, was excellent and the staff were friendly if rather inexperienced (they stacked the plates and started clearing before everyone had finished). The indoor space was being used for wine tasting so everyone was seated at tables outside (we had been warned in advance) which was fine, except that the strong gusty wind threatened to bring down the poles holding up the awning. We enjoyed our meal but would probably avoid school holidays for another visit.

Good Afternoon.
Thank you for the positive as well as the negative notes on your experience at the Black Oystercatcher Wines Restaurant.
We are sorry that we could not meet your standards in regards to our waiting staff, we mainly have young waiters that we train on a regular basis and we try to offer as good a service as possible and always do the best we are capable of under the given circumstances. You are more than welcome to visit us again anywhere in the near future and we are looking forward to having you.

Kind Regards

“Wine estate magic”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 April 2016 via mobile

Not only are the wines good with the bonus of older vintages available, but the restaurant produces an array of dishes that will make your mouth water. Fresh herbs and salad are cut to order from the garden. Be aware that the platter is both delicious and large and you will not want this getting in the way of a main dish.

“Good food - service a bit slow”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 April 2016

We booked a long table (15 people) for Sunday lunch. The venue was great and although the weather was grey and wet, the inside of the restaurant was cosy and warm.
The staff were very welcoming, but I think they were a bit under pressure, as service was slow and we waited up to 20 minutes for a bottle of wine to be brought to the table.
We had a lovely charcuterie platter as starter!! Food was great, but we ate in turns as the food did not arrive in time so we could all eat together. The Oystercatcher wines are great - the sauvignon blanc is our favourite.
