Fantastic location

Review of Voramar Hotel
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 18 Aug 2024via mobile
Lovely hotel, fantastic location for the old town. Pool was lovely, although smaller than pictures alluded. Lovely fresh Sangria served at the pool bar. My only gripe was the constant repetitive music player. Due to the layout, you're forced to lie near a speaker in most of the sunbeds. Resorting to us all using headphones to listen to our own music. It's not great for conversation or relaxing and reading a book. Most annoying was it was the same songs on a loop. Shame as the rest of the pool experience was fantastic, always clean and able to get a lounger. Had breakfast once, it was okay but didn't tempted us back for dinner. The hotel is near Tapas alley..which offers fantastic menus of the day at lunch time. Room was clean, shower was powerful, fridge in the room but no kettle. I would go back after investing in noise cancelling headphones ! To finish on a positive staff were very friendly, especially the bar staff in the bar downstairs and roof top.

Second visit to the hotel, I particularly like the location in the old town, it's right next to the beach, shops and restaurants are an easy walk away. Hotel is basic but clean, staff are friendly and happy to help. We didn't eat here so can't comment on food but we did have some drinks in the bar, they are more expensive in the old town than the new but the roof top bar/pool is worth a visit when open in the summer months. Would stay again for sure, good value for money

Room tip: Don't get a taxi from outside the hotel but a little further up towards Ale hop. Otherwise more as it has to navigate the one way system!

Fantastic location! Great room! Had a junior suite on the 4th floor with sea view balcony. Great value for money. Stayed one night with our dog as well. Had room service burgers. Very good! Breakfast fresh, tasty and nice variety! And last but definitely not least, very friendly and attentive staff everywhere! For sure a returner!

Our room was great- comfortable, spacious with a great view down the beach.

We received a warm welcome on reception from the woman who showed us exactly where the car park was on the opposite side of the street. If you are driving here for a stay then it is well worth paying for their covered car park as the bays outside the hotel fill by 08:00 and rarely did we see any spaces come up in our week here.

We had dinner in the restaurant on our first night and again had wonderful service from Alex. The menu del dia was really good and reasonably priced.

The terrace is literally next to the beach and is idyllic. There is an area set aside for hotel guests and you show your room key to prove residence. The menu here was varied and good and we ate there most nights again, reasonably priced and the kitchen is open all day until 11:00pm so you don’t have to wait for normal Spanish meal time! A huge bonus for us😃

There are deck chairs in the room which you can take to the beach which is a really clever, thoughtful touch. Another nice touch is water available in the corridor by reception and usually left over pastries from breakfast.

Can’t find much fault here but do have observations. The dining room seems way too small to cope with the number of guests wanting breakfast and not enough staff. They seemed to struggle to clear tables quickly and there were long periods where hot food wasn’t available so we couldn’t always get our first choice of breakfast selection. Being on holiday it wasn’t the end of the world but frustrating at times.

We had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay, loved it. I would recommend it.

Lovely hotel from a time long gone by. Sea view rooms are a must, as the view and sounds of the sea are exceptional. The staff are all very helpful especially the cleaning ladies. The restaurant and cafe are both well run and the breakfast are great value.

Terrible experience in the restaurant. The person at the entrance is extremely rude bordering abusive.

We went in as we thought our friends were already there and we were told off and informed that we needed to wait for our turn 'as everyone else' before going in and that we should not have gone inside just because we have a baby. We finally got a table after a long wait in which we had to listen to him treat others the same way (both foreign and local customers). Finally, we were given a table in the sun even after asking for cover as we have a year old baby and there were clearly tables under cover available. Apparently these were not available (they stayed empty the whole time we were there) so we asked whether it was possible to have the shades unfolded to which he said that the wind was too strong and so they won't be able to unfold them yet. After an hour waiting for orders to be taken, my husband went to get our son to sleep walking around inside while we were ordering and the same person proceeded to come up to him and shout in his face asking if he was waiting for a table (he knew we already had one) and woke our son up.

We don't expect special treatment just for having a baby but it seemed this person purposely tried to make it difficult for us. If so, he should find another job, his manners are not appropriate to be in a customer-facing role.

Regarding the food, the burgers were dry, the service was slow and a friend was given normal milk in her coffee when she asked for oat. Not a big deal but just another indicator of poor service.

As a Spaniard, i would not recommend to locals and with an English husband, we would not recommend to tourists.

Hello. Thank you for your comment and we will inform our team. The treatment and happiness of our customers is our priority. We are very surprised by what you tell us, as it is not usual in any of our establishments that bad treatment. We apologize and we are going to communicate it to all our team so that it does not happen again. Thank you.
