The hotel is pretty basic and the rooms are small. The food is buffet style and reasonable for children. We thought the gala dinner though was far too busy and the queueing most unpleasant. Nonetheless we really enjoyed our stay despite the limitations of the hotel and the fact that the flight was significantly delayed both ways. On our spare day we did the husky ride in the afternoon and the reindeer ride in the morning. Our children who were 6 and my mum who was 79 loved both of them. Seeing Father Christmas was of course the highlight of our trip and a very special day indeed. In addition we all had lots of fun in the snow which our boys really enjoyed despite the fact that they ski regularly. We would thoroughly recommend it.

Go for the Geilas suites. Clean, comfortable, with balcony, quick drying cupboard, en-suite sauna. Very good breakfast; and there is a good selection of local flavours for the evening meal at the Tunturi part of the hotel. For a special occasion eat at the Kaltio restaurant within the Geilas hotel; superb. The very well groomed cross country ski-tracks are only 200 metres away. The staff are excellent.

Most of the hotel decor is very 70's looking at whichever hotel you stay in, in Saariselka. The general areas of this hotel are no different. The hotel is strictly a complex so for dinner you have to leave your accommodation block and go to the central restaurants building. The Gailas wing is more modern with nice typical hotel rooms. There is a drying cupboard in each room and a sauna in each bathroom. They are very nice with TV & tea making facilities. Breakfast is served in this building and there is a bar and restaurant area. I think that the restaurant was for Japanese package guests only.
The apartments outside of this wing are big with kitchen, bedroom and lounge with a wood burner. Unfortunately as they are very old looking my wife insisted we moved into the Gailas wing. I was quite happy in the apartment as it gave a separate room for our daughter to sleep in and direct access to the woods for tobogganing!
The food was ok with a vegetarian options. There is a pool table, table tennis and table football. Staff are very friendly.

I didn't book the hotel myself which was a mistake. Had a room in some building which was a little difficult to find late in the evening. The smell of mold or something was very strong in the corridor. The room was clean and more lile a hostel than hotel style. The electric kettle was a plus. The price was 116€ and a but too much even if it was high season. Luckily one short night only.

I have stayed and traveled all over Lapland.

Levi, Yllas but this hotel in Saariselka is most definitely my favourite.

Beautiful suite, sauna, fantastic balcony with views over the church and town.

Great to sit out on a late night looking at the stars with a hot chocolate.

Suites are very large with warm locker to dry and warm clothes.

In room sauna also which is definitely needed after a day on the slopes.

Ski/board storage downstairs also.
Breakfasts and dinner are also great.

Lots to choose from and different flavours for everyone.
