Stayed at this beautifully appointed property for a week in June. Wonderfully equipped with the most comfy beds, beautiful living spaces and the most glorious sea views from the balcony. Your own private access to the beach makes it feel very special. Port St Charles is a lovely, quiet and secure place to stay with great facilities including tennis courts, 2 pools and a lovely yacht club for dinner or sundowners. Just a short walk along the beach takes you to charming Speightstown with its handful of shops and eateries. The apartment is perfectly placed to visit other parts of the island including the wilder north coast and the glitzy west coast. Nicola provided everything we needed for a wonderful holiday and the apartment was spotlessly clean. Will be back!
We've stayed here many times and it always blows our minds the moment we step into this home. The location, the home, the hosts helpfulness is simply paradise in a bottle. We could not want for any more.
Everything is set up perfectly and to a very high standard. The home is nestled right on the beach which adds to the relaxation and the hassle free holiday.
The 'bucket list' restaurants on the island are a must go to - either locally in Speightstown or a short taxi ride in Holetown and beyond.
We pinch ourselves when we stay here to make sure it's real and you will too!
We’ve stayed here a few times and absolutely loved it. It feels like home to us. We’ve been to a few of the neighbouring apartments for sundowner drinks and this apartment is by far the most beautifully interior designed and the quality of furnishings and personal touches makes you glad you aren’t in a hotel.
Having the beach on the door step, two pools to choose from and the most incredibly friendly staff (gardeners especially) make for the best retreat to unwind and relax.
Speightown, the local town, at first seems like a step back in time but then you find really quirky patisseries, fine dining restaurants and a brilliant hardware store.
Can’t wait to come back next year!!
The condo is in a gated community so pretty sterile unless you like that kind of thing. It’s light bright and airy and good view of the beach. We wouldn’t stay again as the cleaner was very rude and unwelcoming, the owner is very uptight- happy to take 5k but acts like they’re doing you a favour letting you stay there. There’s literally a book of rules and every sofa and chair are covered in old towels to stop you sitting on them. The master bedroom with the best view is not available. Seems very tight to ask you to replace the ‘welcome’ pack of bread cheese and milk before you leave. My deposit wasn’t returned because apparently the sheets were stained by our perspiration! Do yourselves a favour and book any of the excellent hotels along the west coast where you can actually relax and feel welcome. Good riddance!
It's when you find gems like this that you ask yourself....why oh why would you ever want to stay in a hotel room, when you can stay in such a beautiful hugely spacious penthouse with dreamy sea and marina views with a beach to die for, like this. I have visited practically every beach in Barbados and can honestly say this is the best, crystal clear and calm swimming beach on the island, and possibly one of the quietest. With the added benefit of being able to swim with the wild turtles. This penthouse is very tastefully furnished and kitted out. If you appreciate good quality sheets and towels, know a jo malone candle when you smell one, and demand only the best in mattresses, then you need to stay here. The huge terrace overlooking the sea is stunning (pictures do not do it justice), and the terrace on the opposite side, overlooking the marina, makes a lovely change of vista, plus a nice area to take breakfast. Dial 4444 on the phone and a boat collects you to take you to the yacht club, dial 4444 and the beach concierge will put loungers and umbrella on the beach for you. All you have to do is walk down a small flight of steps onto the beach, through your private gate, where you also have your own shower to rinse off the salt water after your swim. Snorkels, masks and flippers are in the apartment for you to use. If you want to swim in a pool, port st charles has two outdoor pools you can use, plus the most amazing, HUGE, air conditioned gymnasium - all free to use. The other plus is where it is situated, just on the outskirts of Speightstown - one of the few places on the west coast that still feels like the REAL barbados, where you'll mix with locals, see the charming old fashioned buildings, shop with locals, buy fresh fish on the side of the road from the fishermen as they bring it in, but also benefit from some lovely restaurants, a deli and great bakery, all just a short stroll along the beach. Bliss. So if you are hesitating, all I would say is DON'T - you certainly won't be disappointed. We can't wait to go back.
