Certainly better than the old hotel and has been given a modern make over

Good choice of drinks and friendly atmosphere. Large garden area for the summer

Popped in for a quick bite and a drink after a long journey. The young lad serving was friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the food we ordered seemed to be just cobbled together. Ordered the baked Camembert and pizza and chips for my son. The bread for the Camembert was just odd bits of a burger bun and French bread, as opposed to sourdough as stated in the menu. Also beware of the hidden cloves of raw garlic in the Camembert - a slightly unpleasant surprise! The wine was very expensive also.
It’s a shame as this place could be really good if they concentrated on getting the food right and made it more of a dining experience, unfortunately it felt like we caught them at the end of a busy service and they just put together whatever they had left.

Second visit and not disappointed. It is nice to find a place of a higher standard than the many Beefeater style pubs, but not too expensive. The staff were all very friendly and the meals good value. Had the Sea Bream special. Plenty of individual rooms some mainly dining and others for relaxation.

Stopped in here after a wander around the area en route to Devon. Very helpful young man behind the bar, but we were instantly told that three of the items on the menu were no longer available - and it was only 1.15. The steak sandwiches which we ordered came in ordinary white bread (no choice offered) with a minuscule pot of coleslaw, a pinch of salad leaves and about a teaspoon of finely chopped onion, pepper and cucumber. It was a derisory garnish. The meat was pink and tender though. No complaints about that. However, I did think that £30 for two sandwiches, a pint of bitter and a ginger beer was excessive.
