We were at Sallanches for trekking and mountaineering and found la Charette from trip advisor. We were early but since it was -12 outside we knocked on the door and the owner let us in whilst setting up but also offered drinks whilst we wait during closing hours.
The food was fresh and good, we took specials and the prices can't be beat on the set menus. A little too rich for me but good none the less.
Also, note that the restaurant has a small 5 car space parking lot, if not, there is a public car park just down the hill, but if in winter you might well try the small car park up the hill near the restaurant.
