We stayed at the Imperiale from 28th May until 1st June.
It's beautiful hotel in a stunning setting! Staff are amazing on reception and very helpful!!

Our room was one of modern ones on the 5th floor, it was comfortable, very clean and had a balcony with a perfect view of the lake!
The hotel has Spa Facilities at an extra cost, it looked really nice but we never used it, as the weather was too nice to stay indoors!
The pool is on the waterfront and the views of the lake are stunning, also there is a poolside bar!
Breakfast in the hotel was really good with a nice variety, what made it were the staff! they were so helpful and accommodating,we ate the the restaurant in the evenings a couple of times which was nice but we also used the local family run restaurant close to the hotel, it's called Ristorante "La Veranda" honestly it was the best Italian food I've had in a long time!!!!
Water taxi station is really close by which was a bonus for the days you want to explore.

Overall it's a fantasic Hotel in a great location, with friendly staff, we would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: rooms on the 5th floor were fantasic great views

Great waterside location overlooking Lake Como. Secure underground parking which is a bonus for our group. great dining facilities either in the hotel or as was in our case in a private dining room opening onto a private terrace with fantastic views across the lake to Varenna & Bellagio. Overall very good food and service in a great location

Room Tip: Best rooms are in the lake side annex

We stayed three nights in the fabulous Penthouse Suite which is a building separate to the main hotel and with it’s own private lift. The Hotel itself is very nice and in the process of being refurbished and I would say is a decent quality 4* hotel so nothing particularly special although it is on the Lake front and has some fabulous suites and a very good signature restaurant overlooking the Lake. The Penthouse Suite is really an apartment and could accommodate 4 people or a family quite easily but is the ultimate luxury treat for a couple with it’s generous accommodation and large rooftop terrace with a jacuzzi. A great find and worth paying extra for

Dear derekcbap,
thank you for posting your review regarding your stay at Grand Hotel Imperiale on lake Como.
I am so happy that you had the chance to experience our Penthouse Suite! It is definetely our best and larger room, so special also because of the huge terrace with jacuzzi and stunning view.
I hope to see you again.

We spent eight days in this hotel and were not disappointed by any aspect of it. It fully lived up to the photographs and the description. The staff could not have been more helpful and keen to make sure we had a wonderful holiday. The swimming pool was one of the best located that we have ever seen. Right on the lake with great views. We enjoyed watching the ferries come and go as we lay on our sun loungers. The pool itself was a good length for swimming and there were always loungers available.
We had been upgraded to one of the new suites (thank you!) in the modern wing of the main hotel. It was delightful throughout and extremely spacious for just the two of us with a separate sitting area and balcony where we had a view of the lake. We had a modern coffee making system and were also given a kettle when we asked for this.
The quality and presentation of the food was wonderful. Breakfast was an excellent start to the day - hot food, continental selection and plenty of fresh fruit. We had lunch several times in the poolside bar, and also enjoyed a late afternoon aperol spritz there. We ate twice in the main hotel restaurant at a garden table, and treated ourself once to a meal in the high class lakeside restaurant where the views, food and service were to die for!
There is nothing that was negative about our experience. This might be a four star hotel, but it is punching well above its weight. We have no idea why some guests have given a less than glowing review. Perhaps this says more about them than it does about The Grand Hotel Imperiale.

Amazing views. Check.
Large and comfortable rooms. Check.
Close to the water taxi station. Check.
Friendly, multi-lingual staff. Check.
Wonderful and inexpensive food and dining. Not so much.
Apart from the breakfast buffet which was included with our suite - and which was the exact same every - single - day - we ate our meals off-site.

Stay for the views but be prepared to eat elsewhere.

Room Tip: Higher floors that are lakeside w balcony are the best.

Dear Paul M,
thank you for choosing our hotel for your holiday on lake Como and for sharing your comments on TripAdvisor. I am very pleased that you had a great experience and that you enjoyed so much our large and comfortable room, the location right in front of the boat station and our friendly and professional staff. I have read with a little regret your comment about our breakfast. Honestly, I have to say that our American buffet breakfast has a large choice of fruits, cereals, croissants, homemade cakes, juices, yogurt, bread, cold cuts, sausages, eggs, etc... and 1/4 of it changes every day.
I look forward to your next visit in our hotel, hopefully you will also try our restaurants for lunch or dinner!
Best regards,
Franco Pagliarulo
