We made our reservation for high tea (through OpenTable) well before our trip to Ireland. In doing so, we were able to be seated in the Connaught Room, which books up during busier travel seasons, and has an interesting history of hospitality during the time the Guinness family lived in the castle. The staff was incredible. Upon arriving at the castle, on of the staff at the front door provided us a brief, impromptu tour of the hotel common areas. He then directed us to feel free to wait for our seating in the ante room or on the hotel lawn. The tea, the food, the desserts, the scones were absolutely delicious. Even though we were being served high tea, the wait staff was not stuffy at all and made us feel welcome. One note is that the champagne offered is NOT included in the cost of tea.

We took a day trip from Galway to Ashford Castle. We did the Hawk Walk in the morning (which was amazing) and then did High Tea in the afternoon. It was our family of 4 with daughters 13 and 14 and my sister and her daughters ages 19 and 29. Our table had a stunning view of the lake and gardens and during our tea, we watched a storm rollin over the lake and roll out which was mesmerizing. I thin we spent 2-3 hours at tea, which is unheard of with our group, but it was such a lovely time enjoying the castle and each other company. The tea service and food was amazing, and everyone had more than their fill. Not everyone in our group is a tea drinker, but each person found at least one tea they really enjoyed. We also had every food restriction possible between 3 people in our group, and the servers did an excellent job of accommodating all of their dietary needs. The price is high, but the experience is worth it if you are at the castle. Everyone in our mixed age group thoroughly enjoyed this outing.

Charming is the atmosphere and five stars are well deserved in this unique experience of luxury. Staff bend over backwards to please and ensure nothing is neglected from this beautiful, wood paneled setting with a magnificent chandelier and a view of Lough Corrib to be envied.

I really enjoyed this. The service was wonderful, the staff very welcoming. I thought it was good value-unlimited tea, nice sandwiches and delicious cakes-excellent scones too. The grounds are amazing, and the weather helped as it was beautiful. I would probably prefer more savoury and less sweet-but that is a personal preference. I would definitely recommend it.

This is more of an experience than anything else. The best part is the Staff setting the stage and the extremely high bar of customer excellence which is then met with the culinary expertise of the chefs, then to have the atmosphere of Ashford Castle and the stunning views from the windows.

The wait staff went the extra mile to not only explain the culinary delights but to also ask discovery questions to give us many details of the experience and the castle that we might never have known.

The Afternoon Tea is truly one of the shining stars of Ashford Castle - Don't miss it.
