This Grand is in line with other Grand’s, very good food and beverages. Among the restaurants there is a new one, Caribbean, that is something else. This is the type of restaurant for which you will pay good dollars in any large North American or European city. I guess the New York Times food critic would give it for sure 2 stars, if not 3.
We were not expecting such creativity in the dishes and the amazing mixture of flavors and textures, so well balanced, It was the unexpected quality and imaginations of the dishes that made the experience even better. So, we cancelled the reservation we had for other restaurants and came back again.
Then we learned that the Chef is from Peru (Mr. Christian Valencia). And by the way, he is in the kitchen cooking with his staff. And that matters and it shows in the food.
And since I do not want to make the main Chef (Sr. Lopez) jealous I would add that he prepared, in the open by the pool, a paella that has nothing to do with the poor stuff that you eat in many other places. This was as good as it gets, and the Chef does the whole routine there, in front of you…if you can handle the heat!More
