Clean, accommodating, nothing too much trouble.

Take US dollars or Dominican Pesos for tipping - $2USD or 200DP on delivery of drinks on beach or decent service at a he many restaurants. Small tips seem to engender focussed service (in a good way)

All inclusive and Preferred is exactly that. Includes branded drinks and all food.

Butler service - $199USD per week. Butler reserves you beach or pool spot and deals with your waiting orders during the day. Bit excessive for us, but worthy of consideration if you with to be pampered.

We have just returned from our 2nd visit to this hotel 1st visit being 5 years ago.Overall a great stay.Like to keep things simple and to the point.
Please see below pros and cons.
PROS
1. Fantastic location right on the beach which you can walk straight into without flinching.This is on the Caribbean sea so it is much warmer and carmer that the Atlantic side.
2.Choice of 7 restaurants amazing.No booking required just turn up.All restaurants open at 6pm except the Asian which is 6.30pm.Just be mindful they get busy about 7-30. to 8pm. However if the restaurants are full they will give you a buzzer so you can take a seat have a drink and watch the beautiful ocean.The food was outstanding in all the restaurants so many choices.Lamb,Steak,Lobster,Shrimps,the list goes on.
The French and the Mediterranean are adults only.Dress code required in the French and Italian men required to wear long trousers.
3.Drink selection was amazing.(We did not stay preferred which we were offered at a price of $550 just to use a few extra facilities) The following drinks were available:
Champagne,Bottled beer such as Bud and Miller, branded spirits ,Smirnoff ,all types of Brugal rum,Jack Daniels Bacardi ,Baileys, trust me you will not struggle in this department. Please see cons on this subject below.
4. Hotel gardens and cleanliness :
The hotel gardeners do a great job at keeping the gardens and grounds looking amazing.
5. Weather was fantastic.We had no issues what so ever with rain spoiling our holiday.Stays very warm in the evening.
6. There was always something going on in the day and evening if you wanted it.So overall entertainment was very good.
7. We payed for a partial sea view and had a great view of pool and ocean.Mini bar was great.Bottled beer ,sprite , coke and water restocked every day.Filter coffee maker and other room facilities were good.The maid was outstanding.
CONS
1.We were returning visitors and we were not recognized.Slightly disappointing as we had also sent e-mails and messages asking for resort information ,but had no response.
2.Rooms are beginning to get a bit tired, but I think they are due for a general refurbish.
3 Bottom of pools are beginning to crack and chip away.
4 Most of the staff really do need to improve on their English considering English ,Americans and Canadians make up a huge amount of there trade.
5.Be mindful when ordering drinks through the waiter service that they do not give you local alcohol instead of branded if you have requested branded.
Overall we had a great 11 nights here and we will probably make a 3 visit in the future.I hope this review proves to be informative and helpful.

My husband and I just returned from Dreams La Romana and for the second year in a row it was perfectly amazing once again. This year we brought our grown daughters and thier husbands. We cant wait to return again next year!! It was so wonderful to see the staff and their friendly smiling faces again. Our accomodations were the Honeymoon suite Ocean View in Building 7 and as before it was perfect! Our Butlers, Yoel and Luis, were amazing and so friendly and helpful and even our Butler from the year before, Edward, recognized us and would wave and smile and occasionally stop to and say hello every time we passed him. The restaurants were great as they were last time and we especially enjoy the Seaside Grill with its amazing views. This year we tried out Oilio because we had not the year before and also highly recommend because it was delicious!! The first year we vacationed at Dreams La Romana we renewed our wedding vows of 25 years and Yessica was our wedding coordinator and it was such a pleasure to see her again. We renewed under the wedding gazebo and this year we wanted to have a family dinner under the Gazebo as an anniversary celebration. Between Yessica, Yoel and Luis they made it happen and it was perfect! Thanks so much to Dreams La Romana for our perfect vacation and we hope to see you all again next year! Especially Super Chester(preferred family lounge) since we missed him this year because he was on vacation.

Room Tip: Building 7 if you prefer a quieter room accommodation.

This is a follow up from my report made on the third day of my holiday. Paid over £300 each for four of us to enjoy the Preferred options. Waste of a lot of money!! We could not enjoy the benefits of the adult swim up bar as EVERY afternoon and into the evening, there was nothing but noise -yes enjoy yourself but not to the detriment of other holidaymakers. The noise was horrendous. Had two telephone conversations with the concierge, Katherine, who listened to my comments, but nothing at all was done about it. I mentioned that, under the circumstances, I thought that we were entitled to some form of refund and she promised she would discuss this with her manager - heard absolutely nothing after that. The Preferred also included premium drinks. Okay, but we were restricted to only TWO of the bars which stocked premium drinks, so therefore could not enjoy the full benefits of the premiums drinks. ALL bars closed at 11pm except disco. I am 70 and do not need discos thank you. Beautiful entertainment stage/area by the main pool but the entertainment was all finished by about 9.30pm!!!! The complex itself was absolutely stunning and the rooms were okay , but because of the extra money we had paid for almost nothing in return, we will certainly not be returning. I have already had an "apology" from the manager but this did not satisfy my complaint at all

We have just returned from an amazing 2 weeks at Dreams La Romana. This is such a beautiful hotel with some of the most professional and friendly staff we have ever encountered, and I would recommend it to anyone in a heartbeat.

Check-in was smooth and we were given a beautiful room in block 5 on the 3rd floor. The Reception staff and porters were so welcoming and we were grateful to find our all requests sent by email before we arrived had been granted. To top it all, the room had been done up with balloons and champagne for my birthday - which was a lovely surprise and started the holiday off with a bang.

From here on in the holiday was perfect. Thanks to Demaris (Day maid) and the night maid who turned down the beds, for keeping the room spotlessly clean and leaving us lovely little surprises to come back to.

Every part of the hotel and gardens are beautiful and well-kept, with staff cleaning and tending to the grounds around the clock while never failing to say ‘hola’ as they pass you by. The Pool and beach areas were simply stunning, and a delight to spend countless days lying around chilling with a cool drink. None of the areas ever seemed over-crowded and the sea water is clear and calm. The morning water aerobics even takes place in the sea which was so much fun to do.

Special thanks and respect has to go to the Entertainment team who are exceptional and made our holiday so enjoyable from start to finish. They work so hard from morning ‘til night and never fail to be cheerful and full of energy. They are a true credit to the hotel. The activities were a joy to watch even if you didn’t take part and there was something to do for everyone. I even did painting and candle making which I’ve never done on a Caribbean holiday and my mum did some dancing - which she wouldn’t normally do either. Special mention and thanks to Manager Arismendy Martinez, Daniel (Assistant Manager), Chocolate, Picasso, Jhonfi, Desiree and our personal favourites Luigi and Eddy Murphy, who spent so much time chatting to us - making us laugh and feel special. The evening shows were fantastic also with professional dancers. Special thanks to JJ who’s always came over and had a chat with us.

Thanks also to Alberto who sells the Lobster dining experience on the beach. We went to the lobster dinner twice and would definitely recommend it. They also gave me a cake and a lively rendition of Happy Birthday during our first visit :)

We enjoyed breakfast and lunch at the world café most days where the staff are so welcoming and friendly. The chefs do an amazing job of providing a wide variety of foods – there’s something for everyone here. We also tried all the speciality restaurants – the ambience and décor in all were lovely, but we liked the food at Oceana and Seaside Grill the best. The sancocho soup at the Jungle restaurant was also delicious. All the staff in all the restaurants greeted us with a ‘Como estas?’ to which you must reply ‘Excellente’ :) Special mention to Jesus in the Bordeaux restaurant who was so happy and cheerful in his work.

Finally the bars were great with well stocked named brand drinks - not as strong as we get in the UK, but just ask for more in the glass ;). I can’t remember everyone’s names but the guys serving at the lobby bar, beach bar and outside bar at night time were charming and always provided service with a smile.

All the service staff were helpful and friendly whether you left a tip or not. However, it was appreciated when we left a little something and really these guys are so deserving of it.

In summary, this is our second time at a Dreams hotel (after staying at the Punta Cana one previously) and this is one of the best vacations we’ve ever had - we loved every minute. Thanks Dreams la Romana, we will definitely be back!
