Description: Newly born Greek Eatery in downtown Mykonos, Bakaló is a casual chic diner with retro decorative touches reminiscent of a Greek bistro of a bygone era but with modern flair. Its menu is a tribute to traditional Greek home cooking and is prepared using only fresh local ingredients; its friendly service and prices make it ideal for alfresco dining and people watching.

We've eaten here every time we've been to Mykonos in the last 8 years, but this time we felt it wasn't quite as good as before.
I chose fairly simple food (feta and filo pie) followed by moussaka. The pie wasn't really a pie as we know it and was more of a filo 'spring roll' baked with feta and it was actually very nice, but the moussaka wasn't hot enough and wasn't as good as it's been in previous years.
My partner chose a disappointing starter and then a Greek pasta dish which was also disappointing. Ok, so the Greeks aren't famed for their pasta so maybe it's a bad choice, but they touted it as Greek pasta and it's a Greek restaurant so we expected it to be better.
Overall it's still quaint and nice, and the setting is cute and the waiters and restaurant manager have been there for years which is nice to see, but somehow we just felt it had lost some its 'excellence' from previous years.

We'll still probably go again next year and will try to make better food choices, and hope this was just a one off visit where we weren't as happy as we could have been.

I'd still recommend this place for its cuteness and traditional/contemporary look.

This is our second time to this restaurant and the food was just as we remembered. Beatiful tradtional restaurant with food excellently presented and tasted just as a good. Yes there is more refined restaurant on the island but this is a defo for excellent traditional Greek food

A must is the sardines starter, squid stuffed main and octopus main which is done very well .....absolute must when in Mykonos

Just ended this up by chance, but what great food they had. The Moussaka was absolutely the best one we have ever had.
We also had some small starters but can;t remember what they were but can remember how good the whole meal was.
The owner and staff were great.
This is how Greek food should taste, just beautiful.

We very much enjoyed our dinner at Bakalo. The food was very well prepared and service was competent. The dishes were traditional greek with a slight twist. I enjoyed the seabags filet and my friends all very satisfied with their selections.

My girlfriend and I were looking for a nice place to have dinner and a seasoned regular to Mykonos suggested this place. The restaurant was tucked away in a bustling shopping and cafe section, and it was not very easy to find, but locals can direct you.

We were very impressed with the food. I had the Beef Stew, which was simply out of this world. My girlfriend had a shrimp risotto, and the shrimp were big, super fresh, and tasty. The staff were very friendly, and presented us with a special treat at the end.

We highly recommend checking this place out if you're in Mykonos.
