A lovely hotel for discerning guests. The accommodation is wonderful as are the staff and the restaurants. We wouldn't wish to stay anywhere else in Tenerife after spending our third holiday at El Mirador. On our return to the UK we will be making our reservation for 2018.

Currently staying at Iberostar Grand Hotel El mirador Del Duque.
Have stayed in various five star hotels around the world. This hotel lacks a certain ambience.
Service good,staff very nice. But!
The bar area needs a huge injection of the 21st century! Lighting is atrocious as is the reception area it resembles a mausoleum.
The spa area is fabulous, although this should be included in the hotel price rather than an extra!
This hotel has so much potential but needs a few tweaks!

My husband and I stayed here for 6 nights to celebrate my special birthday. On arrival we drove down to the reception area and parked outside. On entering the hotel we were greeted by the most wonderful, welcoming, friendly Receptionist - Paula. Paula then instructed Israel to park our rental car. The check in was outstanding. A drink of our choice was brought to reception. Paula checked us in, giving us all the information we needed. Israel then escorted us to our room along with our luggage. We were made to feel very special.
Our room was beautiful. It was a junior sea view suite. It was very comfortable and we loved it. The view from our balcony was amazing.
There was a mini bar in the room which we did not use, however it was good to chill water etc. Daily there was water provided FOC to make your own tea/coffee. We were never charged for extra tea/coffee or water like people in earlier reviews. I used to leave a note to ask the housekeepers for any extras we required.
We were booked on half board which included the buffet. There were so much to choose from you were spoilt for choice, It was laid out lovely too. The staff were also out to please. They were all very helpful and friendly. every evening there is a live musician or singer in the bar area. Everything is very tasteful.
We did on one of the nights dine in the speciality restaurant which was included. However we found it to be a little disappointing. We booked to dine at 8.30 but on the evening we asked if our reservation could be brought forward half an hour. We were refused and told they were full. However when we arrived at 8.30 there were only 3 other tables booked. The food sadly was not as nice as the buffet and the service was cold and unfriendly. By 9.30 everyone had left and we were on our desserts. The staff began clearing tables of their cloths and more or less ignored us. We felt in the way and uncomfortable. Another disappointment during this evening was that my husband had arranged a surprise for me, which sadly did not arrive. They forgot to bring me flowers he had ordered prior to us leaving the UK. It may perhaps have been his fault as we did change our original restaurant booking to the Wednesday instead of the Monday, but surely a hotel of this standard should not forget. We did not let this spoil our evening and did mention it to Maria on customer service, but only when she asked if everything was to our liking. My husbands disappointment was compensated by Maria apologising and making sure the flowers were put in our room with a chilled bottle of Cava. Just a shame the experience was not really what my husband had aimed for.
Marie is lovely. She is striving for perfection and works very hard trying to achieve it. She is constantly checking on the staff and guests to make sure all is well. Judith is also customer service and is very helpful too. They make a good team.
The breakfast buffet has a vast choice to suit everyone and is first class. Again the staff are very friendly and helpful. You would have to be extremely fussy not to enjoy the food.
Each day the pool guy helps set your very comfortable sunbeds and parasols up to exactly where you would like them. A nice touch is that in your room on your arrival you are given a beach bag. It's ideal and I loved it. You also get to choose a complementary daily news paper which you can collect from reception or they deliver it to your room.
The pool area is very relaxing and with it being adults only it is so quiet and peaceful.
The beach and shops are a short walk with a gated key entrance to the hotel should you wish to venture out. There area is very upmarket and there are many other lovely restaurants within a short walking distance should you not wish to dine in the hotel.
Our whole experience of this hotel is amazing. Maria,Paula, Israel and Judith certainly contributed to making this a memorable holiday. We certainly will be returning as I loved it. Thank you to all of the staff at the El Mirador!!

We stayed at El Mirador for 9 nights, as a party of four in three rooms.

Everything about our stay was of the highest order. The hotel is immaculate with wonderful rooms (we had Junior Suite sea view accommodation). The hotel staff are hugely efficient and unerringly friendly. The food is superb with a dazzling array of choices to meet even the most particular of guests' needs.

The hotel grounds provide a quiet oasis to relax an soak up the sun and the swimming pool is perfect and never crowded.

Sincere thanks to all at El Mirador for making our vacation so special, especially for my 85 year old Mum. We look forward to visiting this terrific hotel sometime soon.

wonderful greeting and speedy check in with a glass of bubbly. Room perfect. breakfast beyond fantastic with Champers everyday. Location is amazing , near the beach, restaurants and bars. The staff really are the stars of this luxury Hotel. The one big let down is the hotel guests that appear to get up before the crack of dawn and place towels and personal belongings on the sun loungers (some left unused for hours if not most of the day ). The pool staff are very good but seem powerless to help when there are no free sunbeds for guests who don't grab and go. It's such a shame cause the pool is wonderful and much as we loved el Mirador and thought we had found 'The One' for our annual late summer get away it has put us off returning (take note management there are many 5 star hotels and cruise ships who 'outlaw' and enforce the sunbed grabbing issue)
