“A quiet sanctuary of a spacious, comfortable and welcoming apartment”

My wife and I have stayed in many apartments over the last 20 years of varying quality and price. I can honestly say that Balcon al Mar is up there with the best, diligently hosted by the owner, Mariena (apologies if the spelling is incorrect). And this from a very critical and "picky" couple of holiday makers.

Location - The apartment is accessed through a gate that is private to Balcon al Mar and only two other lower apartments from the "Strip" (as the principal entertaining street is known). As the Strip is crammed with all the bars, restaurants and tourist shops of the resort, the first thought is that the apartment must be impacted by this. Not a bit of it. Once through the front door, you're in your own private and peaceful place; it's great. The balcony overlooks the rocky foreshore and small beach, with great views of open sea, Fuerteventura and the headland to the south of Playa Blanca. To the left of the balcony is a complex of crazy golf course and restaurants. This can be a bit obtrusive - "aromas", noise and "voyeurs"; but this is a very minor criticism. Steps outside the front door lead down to the small beach via another private and locked gate.

Specification - Quite simply, everything you need from a fantastically equipped kitchen to beach stuff for the kids. The apartment has been owned and extensively used for weekend and holiday living by the owner and family for a number of years and it has that lovely domestic feel that you don't get in a purpose built buy to let apartment. There is extensive storage space in both bedrooms and the kitchen. The bed in the master bedroom is huge and comfortable. TVs in all principal rooms. Note that although there are many TV channels, there are only a couple of news and music channels for English speakers.

The balcony has a couple of sunbeds, large glass patio table and 6 chairs, BBQ oven and a shower room.

In summary, a top class apartment, but Puerto del Carmen would not be every bodies favourite holiday destination. The one way system and parking is a nightmare. Unless you get into the old town by the port, the restaurants represent many countries in the world, but very little Canarian/Spanish; which is a shame. I would have preferred to see Spanish tapas bars than Irish and English ones. Consequently we enjoyed the apartment in the evenings far more than we would normally do on holiday. The "Strip" was not for us.

“An Amazing Location”

A beautiful property perched on top of the cliff which led to the beach down a number of steps, with the entrance to the house just off the main street of Avenida De Las Playas. From the balcony the views to sea and to the mountains were absolutely stunning from morning till evening ever changing. The Manager/Owner Marina was so very helpful and pleasant. I can't but fully recommend this beautiful house with all it's wonderful charm. The house had all the essentials for a great stay with a comfortable bed and avery well equipped kitchen and one of the best BBQ's I have come across in my 40 years of travel holidays. Being just off the strip as it's known in Puerto del Carmen was a great advantage as you were spoiled for choice of restaurant's left and right and if you had an early night the noise levels were minimal to say the least. This house is suitable for couples or a family of two adults and two children The A/C was excellent as the temperature at times reach 40*C during the day and it was nice to cool the house in the evening when getting ready to go out.
