“Disappointment”
Reviewed 3 February 2013 for a stay in January 2013

The booking process and initial correspondence with the owner of this property was great - quick responses and plenty of information.
The location of the villa is excellent, 10 mins from the airport and a 5 min walk to the beach front, shops, bars and restaurants.
Unfortunately these are the only positive comments I can make regarding our stay.

We arrived Sunday 20th January & noticed that the villa next door had a lot of construction materials around the pool area; our suspicions were confirmed the next day when builders arrived to work on the renovation of the property.
Mon - Fri we were woken to the sound of power tools eg drilling & grinding and the radio on full blast, not quite the relaxing break we had anticipated.
Inside the villa with all the windows and doors closed it was very loud so as you can imagine it was practically impossible to make much use of the pool area despite the fact we had paid an additional £25 to heat the pool.
In addition to this great plumes of dust were blowing over the wall, creating the feeling of sunbathing on a construction site.
During discussions with the workmen we established that the works had not commenced the week we had arrived but had been ongoing for some time.
At no point during the booking process or during the weeks before our holiday were we informed that substantial building works were in progress.

We returned from Villa Frances Sunday 27th January and the following day I emailed the owner detailing the above concerns and asked why she had not informed us of the works next door; I am yet to receive a reply.

I would like to mention with regard to my guests comments relating to building work. I was totally unaware that work was to be carried out next door. I have had hundreds of very satisfied guests over the last 20 years and my management have been praised over and over again in our visitors book.

“Excellent Location and Residential”

Excellent villa within a central position of Puerto Del Carmen. All communication with owner Frances Glader was quick and efficient via email and telephone. Villa is managed by George and Lynn, they are worth their weight in gold, they were there when we needed them. Villa is cleaned once per week and pool is cleaned twice per week. Would recommend this villa with it being a 6/7 minute leisurely stroll to main strip in Puerto Del Carmen, Max Co-Op is a 2/3 minute walk and has all the amenities that you will require, prices are comparable with the local Spars within the area, you will win on some items and lose on others, but overall they all work about the same. Villa had a washing machine and dishwasher which both came in handy, returned home with only a couple of items for ironing and only the clothes we travelled in to be washed, this makes a big difference on your return to the UK. Would return to this villa and it was a pleasure to deal with such a lovely owner and such a lovely couple who manage the property for the owner.

Tips - We used Last Minute Travel for an excursion to Timanfaya and again used the same company for our pickup from villa to airport, the cost was 15 Euro and this was for a minibus that took the five of us plus five cases and still had room for approx 5 more passengers, we got a taxi from the airport to the villa and it cost us 20 Euro and we were all cramped in the taxi, so we kept Last Minute Travels details to use in the future.
Tips - Eating out, Universo (get to bottom of slight hill from villa and turn right) very nice and the most reasonable priced for English Breakfast at 1.95 Euro and evening meals also nice in here. Peking Duck (get to bottom of slight hill from villa and turn left, keep going until you get to second Santander Bank and it is upstairs) for Chinese Buffet, cheap and cheerful with lovely views out to see. Star of India (get to bottom of slight hill from villa and turn left) again they do a two course buffet at 9.95 Euro per person and a large beer is 1.40 Euro. Pizza shop at the bottom of the hill is also nice it is the first one as you come down the hill next to the Taj Mahal.
