The Guest House is located some km off the main road to Monks Cowl – which is the starting point for hiking in Middle Drakensberge. Since it seemed to be a farm before, you still find a lot of different buildings, waggons, dirt roads and other items on the area and it is not like holiday resort. Our Zulu room was a standalone small villa with a beautiful deck facing the mountains. We found everything clean in the public areas as well as in our room. Sleeping room and bath room were very spacious and nicely furnished. Since the curtains are not very good you better bring a sleeping mask if you’re light sensitive. The breakfast and dinner are rather simple but tasty. If you want to spend some days enjoying the Drakensberge and do not have too high expectations we can definitely recommend the Ardmore Guest House.

Thank you for your positive comments on Ardmore. We are in the process of putting thicker backing lining on the curtains. We are glad you enjoyed the Zulu cottage. You are right, we are not a holiday resort, we try to give our guests an experience that will leave them feeling relaxed and refreshed. We pusue a sustainable farming operation and work hard at this.

Ardmore farm is a great place to stay to explore the Champagne Valley area and more of the Drakensburgs . Easy access to marked walks straight from the farm, and travel by road is easy too. Within easy reach of Spionkop and other Boer War sites and the excellent museum in Ladysmith. Accommodation is comfortable and very private we stayed in Zulu which is spacious and well equipped.Food and catering is homely farm style, with generous portions and all prepared on the premises.

This is a wonderful place to unwind. Amazing views on Drakensbergen. Very friendly staff (Richard did everything to help us feel at home), very comfortable bed and spacious room. Good food, also for vegetarians! Really nice dogs walking around. A lot of things to do at the farm and in the surroundings. Would definitely recommend this place!

We stayed here on my birthday. Before we arrived the reception phoned to give us a free upgrade! Upon arriving we sat in the garden and had some tea. The staff was so friendly.

We stayed in the protea lodge. It had an amazing view over the mountains. It felt really homely. One minus point was that the "bubbles" didn't work in the Jacuzzi. But that was the only thing I would change in the room.

In the evening we ended up eating at the restaurant. The food was nice and the staff was friendly. There was an unpleasant guest in the restaurant. We wished the staff would've spoken to him because he was insulting other tourists and this made us feel very uncomfortable.

For breakfast they had a lot of different types of things. We enjoyed it.

Next time we'd definetly stay longer. This is also a great place to venture out to the amphitheatre and other hiking areas.

Thank you Djesika for such a positive review. The jacuzi spa baths in the units are very popular, many apologies for yours not working, we did fix that as soon as we were told. Luckily your cottage had 2 jacuzi spa baths!
Management did speak to the unpleasant guest, it is unfortunate when such people stay, but luckily their stay was brief.
So glad that your next trip will be longer.

We were a group of different families ending up our south-african trip at Ardmore Guesthouse, and we were please to meet cheerful and welcoming staff, which honestly was lacking throughout our trip. Cottages or houses were clean, large and comfortable. The common parts of the guesthouse are cosy, trampoline and swimming pool for kids, food is just really good, bar consumption is made so easy, you actually feel like a guest, not just a client. Good advices and friendliness all along our stay, just one warning: Kids => finish up you plates !!! :)
