While the post is translated to English and indicates the location is the "Castle of Olonne," I had no idea where that was (and didn't think to translate back to French "Chateau d'Olonne," so I looked at the map for the marker. It appeared to be North of the port, which was fine for me.
The actual location is about an hour walk South of there and about 35 min walk South of Sables d'Olonne, but it is a beautiful walk along a rocky shoreline. Other than the small misunderstanding on my part about where the flat was, everything was great! The owners were very friendly, even though my French is limited. The flat was clean and nicely decorated and, despite being a sofa bed, it had good support and I slept comfortably (even with a bad back from a car accident).
There is a restaurant very close by that serves good food and is quite popular - on weekends, they have music and you will need a reservation for dinner. The servers were also very nice and offered to help translate the menu to English (not necessary - I can read French, just not speak it well).
In short, if you want to park your car and get around Sables d'Olonne on foot, this might not be the right place (unless you're up for the walk), but otherwise, it is really lovely!
