We stayed at the Exotica for 11 nights from the 18th June 2018

Rooms
The rooms are minimalistic, and a clean look, but I quite liked that. They were very modern. We had a super king size bed and a single, which unfolded to another double. Balcony looking out on to the pools so couldn’t complain there. Large tv on the wall with one English chanel which was the news. That was t a problem for us as we literally just slept there. Hairdryer available in the room, which I’ve seen people complain is away from the bathroom mirror. It can be unplugged and plugged into the socket at the mirror you just won’t have the holder there. I’ve seen a lot of people complain about the style of bathroom, I travelled with a 4 year old but I can imagine it’s not ideal with a teenager. There’s a fridge in the room which isn’t stocked (we got stuff from the local supermarket) and a safe (which we didn’t use) but I believe that is around 30 euros with no return. There was good room storage in the wardrobe for the two of us.

Improvement: I found the bed ridiculously hard and struggled to sleep. I thought being all inclusive the fridge should have been stocked with local beer and bottled water at a minimum.

Pools
There are three pools - small, medium and large. Beds are free and we never struggled to get one in the area we wanted to be. They are metal so do get very hot, I’d definitely suggest covering the arms with a towel.

Improvement: First hotel I’ve been to where there is no life guard around any of the pools. Quite un-nerving at times. One little boy got into a struggle and was face down struggling to turn over. I jumped in to pull him to the surface. I 100% think there should be a life guard on duty so dangerous.

Pool Bar
Always greeted with smiley faces and happy to help. You can get toasties, chips, sandwiches, salad, cheese and cold meats, cakes and biscuits throughout the day. Plus ice cream which was surprisingly nice for an all inclusive. Also milk shakes, cocktails, and your usually spirits, soft drinks and fresh juices.

All inclusive
Breakfast - is by far the best of the day, plenty variety. Cereals, fruits, omelettes, crepes and everything to make a full English. Fresh bread and jam. It’s all self serve

Dinner and lunch - after a 4 days became repetitive. Don’t get me wrong there was always something to eat if you’re an adult. But the choice in particular for children was terrible - chips and chicken nuggets at lunch or chips and fish fingers at dinner. The Greek night was by far the best so I’d definitely stay in that night. There’s a Sunday roast dinner with fresh veg, gravy and Yorkshire puddings which was equally a good night.

Improvements: I’d say the hotel doesn’t cater well for children. We expected a park as per brochure when we booked. There’s no park. As mentioned the food isn’t the best for kids. No mini disco for 15 minutes. In fact there’s only entertainment on 4 nights a week - Greek night, Latin dancing, a DJ one night and a folk two piece another. The menus in the restaurant isnt well thought out. Sometimes roasted meats but not potatoes or veg to go with. It is literally chips with everything.

Outside the hotel: we visited a fantastic taverna called Georgias. Turn left outside the hotel and then right on the strip. You walk all the way along the road and bare to the right at the mini round about. It’s about ten shops down the right hand side from there. Also further down that road is a fantastic sandy beach. Two loungers and a parasol is 8 euros. There is another beach which is right next to the hotel, turn right when you come out of reception but this is a shingle beach. We visited Georgias numerous times. Super cheap. Adult meal, children’s meal, beer, wine, apple juice and puddings 15 euros. We also went to Pandesia which is left outside the hotel and left at the strip. 100 yards up on the right hand side of the road. There is a fantastic children’s park which is enclosed and safe. Food was also delicious and reasonable.

Excursions: we went to Zante Town on the fun train which was 7 euros return. Also went on the horse and carriage 10 euros just for a little entertainment for my son. Zante town didn’t have much to offer to be honest. Probably less than the strip in Kalamaki but my son enjoyed the train trip. However some of the people in the hotel did go to the olive factory etc and said they were impressed with that.

We had a fantastic holiday made by the lovely people we met staying at the hotel.

Id recommend this hotel if you’re an older couple looking for a relaxing holiday. Not for those with children.

All in all I think it is only a 3 star hotel striving to be a 4 but not quite there yet.
Changes to food, entertainment and catering for children will get it the 4 stars

** we did have some issues with noise on our corridor. A Couple fighting with fisty cuffs outside our door. As a single mum I felt quite scared and intimidated for my sons safety. There were also younger people coming in from Laganas till 4am running around the corridors screaming. Reception and the hotel manager weren’t the best at resolving this just stating “nothing could be done”. My preferred option would of course have been to be moved room.

Zante was beautiful. Like I say we had a brilliant holiday made by the lovely people we met. Would I return to Hotel Exotica?....sadly no.

Had a great stay here. Rooms are lovely. Beds comfy. The pool is nice and the pool bar had great snacks and drinks. Sun loungers are really uncomfortable though. Nice friendly staff. Good food and choices. My first time all inclusive and have to say it's not for me, but if you have kids it's great. Just one thing, around the settees outside of the dining room, we noticed for a few days running, broken glass on the floor. Special mention to housekeeping, i can't remember her name but room 216. Fab service so thankyou. Take your mosquito repellent !!

after reading great reviews about this hotel, i was very disappointed with my 2 weeks stay . the positives the staff were really good ANETA at the pool bar was always helpfull and smiling, the room was good apart from when it flooded twice with the thunderstorms.
the food was not good at all and alot of not cooked properly also there was suppose to be set times for the food and it was always late opening which made the ques even bigger.if u have young kids the food was always chips and spaghetti with bolonagse sauce. also i met couple of nice people but most of them u would think were at funeral rather than a holiday all glum faces .would deffo not come back here

We have just come back from a short break here, we loved it ( except for a couple of stormy showers) the room was clean and modern.. Could do with a mirror by the hairdryer. Staff were really friendly and looked after us well. Food was ok, not much choice, but was nice hot and fresh. The desserts are amazing! The drinks werent to our taste especially the wine. Beers,g&t's,cocktails were alright, and seemed to be the most popular drink. Some of the sunloungers need repairing, the bar closes at 11pm but the supermarket next door is cheap, stock up on water bottles 6litre for €1.60 and you have a mini fridge to store your bought drinks. Kalamaki and beach are short walk away, great pubs restaraunts at reasonable prices, hubby loved the stella at iguana bar. Will defo go back again soon.
