We choosed to dive with the Evolution during our trip in the Philippines in march. We did a 3 dives and we saw Tresher Sharks, which is an amazing adventure. All instructors and equipment was excellent. We can definietly recommend the Evolution to dive in Malapascua Island.

Despite my 5 star review I do have a few reservations about Evolution (not least the name which is offensive to creationists such as Gary Busey, Mr T and the Pope) but let's start with the good:

1. The sea around the island is the perfect balance of wetness, saltiness and fishiness. And it goes ALL AROUND the island which means that wherever you leave, the sea is right there. One of the unique perks of this magical place.
2. The Craic House - Top notch scran and superb use of the pun. The staff wearing 'Craic Dealer' outfits had me chuckling to myself on the daily. Brilliant.
3. The constant crowing of cockerels is a sound both soothing and uplifting at any time of the day. I will never tire of it.

However, despite excelling in certain areas, the staff were a profoundly odd bunch with the collective personality of a ham sandwich. GM Nick does little more than look at memes (pronounced meeeeeeeems) and play godawful music that only be described as 'bang bang horrible music bang'. I think some of it was psytrance which is just terrible. And he smelt faintly of chips and gravy. In addition our instructor Sebastian wasn't the same Sebastian the crab from the Little Mermaid which was distressing to say the least. In fact he was a boy of no more than 8 with a hairstyle reminiscent of a bathroom mop imitating Eminem. I have to admit, he knew his onions which was effectively useless as we were learning diving rather than cooking but we muddled through and are now proud owners of certificates for the 50 metres breaststroke and picking up a brick in our pyjamas. As for Mette and Freddie I have no idea what they actually do. Mette attempts breakdance moves in the sand (badly) and Freddie is about 8ft tall and shaves her head with a blunt machete.

I understand that this review is perhaps nonsense but if you'll allow me to be serious for half a second this place is ace, the diving is the tits and the overall vibe is bless. And the staff are beautiful people that know a lot of stuff about diving. Much love from the best ever, Nick and Nicki xxxxxxxx

Completed my advanced certification, and my rescue diver course during our second stay on Malapascua. We love this beautiful, faraway little island, and our friends at Evolution! We're not super experienced divers but they always make us feel comfortable, safe, and at ease. They have well looked after gear, plenty of people on hand to help, and lots of beautiful sites to choose from. We love diving on the Monad shoal, seeing the threshers is an awesome experience to remember. Rescue diver was hard work - be prepared for some on the spot moments and lots of physically demanding tasks - but I'm so glad I did it with these guys. There is a great bar with delicious fresh food and tasty cocktails after a hard day's diving. We've had a great time and will definitely be back again, and would definitely recommend diving with Evolution.

Evolution, the natural selection...? If you're looking to enrol in a scuba course and want to become the best diver you can be, it's the only selection.

Myself and my wife spent a gruelling, yet hugely enjoyable four weeks with Evolution in the pursuit of becoming divemasters. We had decided on the Philippines after researching places all over South East Asia (having known the area pretty well following three years living in the region). We were drawn to Malapascua after hearing about the infamous Thresher Sharks that call the Island home. From there, we found two of the most reputable resorts on the island - TSD and Evolution. We plumped for Evolution mainly due to their patience and responsiveness during my wife's more than extensive communication with one of the owners...

After only a few days into the course we realised just how good a choice we had made, and felt extremely lucky with the sheer standard of instruction that we were going to receive during our DMT course.

Myself and my wife both quickly fell for Seb...our lead instructor, who at 22, is wise beyond his years, and despite our advances remains the most eligible bachelor on the island, ladies. We were also lucky to be mentored by tech guru - Dannie, Danish waterbaby - Mette, and the blonde bombshell that is Freddy. All of whom were hard taskmasters but as fun and friendly out of the water as in it. It was great to spend time with different instructors who all brought slightly differing ways of teaching with the shared vision of diving 'the correct way'. We will always remember the three rules of diving!

The general manager Nick, was always there to provide additional support and generally went above and beyond to make sure we were the best qualified DM's possible, as well as enjoy the odd SMB after diving was done for the day...

We really did feel part of the family at Evolution, and everyone was brilliant from the boat crews, compressor guys, bar/reception girls, and of course local DM's and guides - who can spot a hairy frog fish or pygmy sea horse from beyond the realms of visibility underwater!

Genuinely an inspirational month for myself and the wife as we embark on life now with a professional dive certification! Thanks to all at Evolution for making it possible.

Disco anyone...?
