A bit far to travel and out of the way but certainly well worth the effort. The road is good and can be covered in a normal sedan. Set in the middle of a reserve. A delightful experience. Wished I had more time.

To appreciate nature to it's full you sometimes have to travel a bit further, but that said 2 hours drive from Johannesburg should not be considered that far 😁 Glad to hear that you had a delightful experience

Had a 2 night stay at Zebula lodge during July Holidays. We booked a special that included breakfast and dinner. The room was beautiful and spacious with all the bells and whistles needed for a busk-break. It offers a VERY large bed that is comfortable, seating area inside and a furnished patio overlooking the the 10th fairway of the Zebula golf course. It had coffee and tea making facilities, small bar fridge (contents not included in the rate), air conditioner, ceiling fan, flat screen TV, safe (can not fit laptop in there) and more than enough storage space for clothing and what ever extras one may need on a trip like this. The bathroom was well appointed with 2 basins, a large, deep soaking bath tub and also offers TWO walk-in showers - one inside and another one outside (I am sure this one will be well used during summer). There is a separate toilet, that is always an added benefit, wit a another basin outside of the bathroom. His and hers magazines were placed on the bedside tables as a freebie, adding a nice touch. Free WiFi is available, although it can be slow at times.

There is a restaurant upstairs in the main building that serves dinner, whilst breakfast is served on the ground floor inside the main building or outside on the patio. A pizza cafe adds to the variety of cuisine and the golfers' 19th hole also served snacks, light meals and fabulous drinks. Each dinner was from an exquisite 3 course menu with more than enough choices. Every meal we had was perfectly prepared, well presented and delicious. The chef deserve all the accolades due. The catering manager was very friendly and ensured that we were satisfied with all they have to offer. Breakfast had lots of variety and was plentiful. Solly, the cook at breakfast, makes perfect omelets.

There is a children's area with a pool next to the sports center, a well-stocked kiosk and souvenir shop is available on site. Birds of prey and reptiles are part of an exhibition available to guests.

The main building, with huge oversized wooden entrance doors that welcomes you, also houses the reception desk, whilst the golf pro shop is at the back. Very friendly an efficient staff welcomes you to an experience that will not be forgotten soon.

A small conservation fee is charged.

Room tip: Lodge rooms are free-standing

I have stayed 3 nights at Zebula Hotel, Bushlodge. The room is very spacious, very clean, with all the equipements needed. Installations are quiet in good shape but the style is already a bit oldish I would say. Nevertheless you will find all the confort needed for a nice stay. I only think its a bit expensive for what it is.
Stuff is very very friendly but service on the estate is not all the time on top, specially in the bistro . With nothing they seem to be quick a bit overworked.
Golfcourse is average, I expected more to be honest.

Room tip: First bushlodges close to the clubhouse can be a bit noisy on a weekend.

So sorry to hear that you found the Golf Course at Zebula to be average, the Zebula Golf course is the top Golf Course in Limpopo and has consistently been rated as one of the top 50 Golf courses in South Africa. Right now it's looking really good maybe time to come and re-evaluate 😁

We arrived on a Friday night after a 2 hour long drive from Johannesburg. The trip could have been shorter had we not listened to the GPS that took us to a mighty long dust route. Anyway... Check-in was hassle free and our unit was less than 2km from reception. Because it was dark, we struggled to locate the 'cottage' that is almost the same size as the main house. The house was stunning, well equipped and 2 full bathrooms. I liked that the pool was warm although it was a bit slippery on the inside. If we had any issues, the staff was very attentive. A few things were broken that could have been fixed before our arrival. All in all, great place, tranquil and loads to be. You actually see animals on the safari. Definitely a place to come to escape the city lights and buzz.

Apologies for a very late response to your excellent review, Google Maps keep on choosing the wrong route and for that reason, we now provide all our guests with a proper Google Maps. We think it's time for a visit again after all it's nearly been a year since your last visit.

We had no problems with our stay...it wasn't great, but wasn't bad either. The primary purpose of our review is to warn people to be careful how you travel to Zebula Lodge. We left Praetoria and followed Google Maps, which took us a horrible, essentially off-road route. The "best" times were when we were driving through sketchy towns and feeling unsafe...and the worst were when we were going kilometers on roads with huge potholes and sections completely submerged in water. We've driven in counties in 4 continents and this was the worst drive we have ever been on. When we arrived at the lodge, the person at the front desk commented "oh, you followed Google Maps, didn't you?" So clearly they are aware of the problem, yet no one mentioned something to us BEFORE we took the trip. If you're going to stay here, make sure you plan ahead and take a good route to get there as it's off the beaten path.

We have tried to contact Google regarding the map issue but no joy there, however, we do now provide all our guest with a Zebula approved map on our website. We urge you to also let Google via their maps website know about your expereince
