Stayed here for 4 nights. What a beautiful lodge on the hillside was total tranquility and relaxation. Staff friendly and attentive, but keeping a polite distance so you could relax. Stayed in the lodge itself in amazing rooms. It felt very special. Food was very good, well presented and tasty.
Stayed there as we wanted to see the lion sanctuary. Went out with our guide Mosses who took us to see the lion feeding in the mornings. Amazing! So wonderful that these beautiful creatures have been rescued and now have a safe space to roam. We also took a few game drives in the evening with Mosses who was very informative and good company.
Overall a wonderful stay in this beautiful country.

Last 15 km of access road is shockingly bad. Travel directions vague. Received by untrained unprofessional staff. Noisy room off the foyer. Evening meal very poor. No hot water, at one stage no water. Complaining resulted in zero action initially, corrected only after further demands. Suffered tyre damage due to poor road. Limped to Bel Bela with emergency spare (1 hour) on pathetic road. Will not be back.

Schrikkloof is a true gem. Great lodge, very comfortabel rooms, beautiful surroundings, wonderfull staff and service, quiet and serene. Great game drives and all income benefits the rescued animals of the Lions Foundation which is located on the property. A must see!
On top of that we really enjoyed our food and interaction with the staff! Highly recommended but make sure to drive a larger car or 4 x 4 as the public road leading towards the entrance of Schrikkloof is a dirt road.

We loved everything at the lodge, it was great to see the property after the gravel road. Take it slow and enjoy every moment. We were welcomed at arrival with drinks and a lovely introduction to what happens. The lion sanctuary were an excellent experience, especially the stories related to each.
This is highly recommended, we will come back again.

We have always enjoyed our stay at this lodge. However, this time around we had problems with two big dogs which made us to stay with fear. Twice I had to defend myself from two big charging dogs. At one time I had no option but to run and climb up the back of someone's Amarok Double cab. That was extremely bad. I could imagine if it was my wife, something could have happened. This was brought to the attention of the lodge and I don't remember any apology.

Otherwise, this is a very nice place and hope the dogs have been removed.
