I must begin by raving about the service that we received whist housed at the Antinea Suites Hotel. These young people did everything they could to make our trip comfortable and pleasurable. They work overtime, sleep very little, yet still always had smiles on their faces and put 100% effort into their jobs. I have much respect for them... and give them my thanks. As some have written in previous reviews, the hotel is located on a steep hill. That being said, it provides guest with privacy and quite that we could not have if we stayed on the beach, yet the walk up did take effort (I considered it more so as a glut workout, but I can see how someone who is elderly or who has knee problems might find it extreme). Moreover, the view was fabulous-- looking up to the rocky hill and down on the beautiful blue sea. The rooms were nice and clean. It is not a fancy five star hotel, for those who prefer that, go elsewhere. But the rooms were very nice and modern. The beds were comfortable and the bedding clean. Yes, there is the issue with the toilets. Note that throughout Santorini (restaurants, venues etc.) you are not allowed to throw paper in the toilet. Complain as you will, this will not change as it is the island system that is the issue, not that with the hotel. Yes, there is the issue with the toilets. Note that throughout Santorini (restaurants, venues etc.) you are not allowed to throw paper in the toilet. Complain as you will, this will not change as it is the island system that is the issue, not that with the hotel. So if you are unable to thrown the paper in the trash can-- which is tightly sealed and cleaned every morning-- then don't visit Santorni at all (I assume there are similar issues on other islands as well). The cleaning staff did a good job. I resided on the first floor, and there was an issue with ants if I left food on the table, but it is in a desert like atmosphere, and that is to be expected. I learned to keep my food in the refrigerator and there were no bugs. Also, although I resided next to the hotel lobby, I did not experience any significant noise, particularly during the evening/night and early morning hours. Regarding previous reviews that complained about stray cats (and even dogs), this is a very sad and unfortunate case throughout Southern Europe(I have seen this on the mainland, Serbia, Croatia, etc.). I did not see any cats during the day on the hotel property, but I did hear one on a few nights. They are just trying to survive in a desert-like land. Please pity and care for them rather than be offended by their presence. They are just doing what they must to live, as do we all. The breakfasts were wonderful: ample food, some wonderful greek dishes such as spankopita and a table to Greek goodies including various condiments, figs, etc.as well as international standards including eggs, breakfast meats, cereals, fruits, cheese, cold cuts, etc., and again, wonderful service. They kept the platters full, and if not, just ask them to bring you something and they will jump to help you (Thank you Ioanna-- the considerate and attentive restaurant manager, and Ledio and Vangelis who were such nice and helpful young men). The pool bar is a fun place as well. Harris makes delicious smoothies, pours a generous glass of wine and it is fun to banter and jest with him. He, like the others, is very kind and went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable. There also is a spa where one can get a nice massage, pedicure etc. And regarding hotel services, the front desk (Evyennia, Eleni and Gianni) gave us wonderful recommendations regarding tours, shopping, restaurants etc., and they made a few reservations for us regarding dining in Fira and boat tours that provide to be so very pleasurable. So, in conclusion, I would definitely recommend this hotel. The location and the service made our vacation virtually perfect. Mrs. Eleftheria- the Hotel Manager- I thank you for your attentiveness, your knowledge and your hard work. This vacation and stay at the Antinea Suites Hotel will bring me warm memories throughout my life.More
