NOT ENOUGH BEDS

Review of Caybeach Caleta
1.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 30 Jul 2024via mobile
The sordid truth about your holiday. Beds are a contentious subject with Brits and can honestly ruin your holiday. This is what you have to contend with. NOT ENOUGH BEDS FOR GUEST.
The morning fight for beds continues with guests waiting for an hour to get the locked up beds before they run out.

We stayed here last week and had a great family holiday (2 adults, 7 year old and 10 month baby), the location was perfect and the bungalows are adequate - could do with some general updating and maintenance but nothing that really bothered us apart from some sealant missing in the shower which allowed ants to get in. I just plugged it with some wet toilet roll.

The single biggest reason for dropping stars is that when we arrived around 10pm, there was no travel cot for our baby to sleep in, I enquired about this at reception and was told it would be sorted the following day because the maids had finished for the day. This is absolutely unacceptable and had no choice but to have the baby sleep in our bed with us, getting barely any sleep due to the obvious risks of having a baby sleep in bed with you, it goes against all medical advise. Luckily our baby was slightly older at 10 months, but if this was a new born, the risk of the baby falling out of bed or being suffocated by an adult is increased and no one should be put in that position. The travel cot we got the following day was also wobbly and battered and should be replaced.

The other negative was the receptionist checking us in, she was very friendly and polite but my god she was the slowest person to check people in I’d ever witnessed, I honestly felt like I was part of some hidden camera show to see how long they could keep people waiting. I’m talking literally 15 minutes per check in… I read another review saying she was new so that is absolutely the fault of the manager. But some awareness from her that there’s people waiting and to speed up would also be my recommendation!

As others have pointed out, the sun bed situation is also a joke, if you aren’t there at 10am with your hand on the pile of sun beds ready to grab them - you’ve got no chance for the whole day. Advice to management - use your brains and buy about 50 more sun beds, after the pool area is cleaned, line them up ready for the next day. Absolutely no one likes having to wait at 10am to fight for them and you’re begging for negative reviews. Also, ALLOW FLOATIES! Whatever outdated views you have on not allowing them, you should change it, I can guarantee you’ll please more people than disallowing.

We arrived after booking a 2 bedroom apartment for our family of 2 adults & 2 children to be told they didn't have a 2 bedroom apartment for us & needed to put us in 2 separate apartments & split our family up! Compensation for this was breakfast for 2 weeks! After we were adamant this wasn't acceptable they miraculously found us a 2 bedroom apartment which they claimed not to have available 10 minutes earlier. The woman on reception checking us in said she had only been here 1 week & this was her 3rd day on her own. She should never have been left on her own in this position on one of the busiest days of the year. The manager should be ashamed of themselves. The staff were rude & unhelpful during our stay. The entertainment was non existent despite advertising on the board in reception. One of the worst places I have stayed in caleta in the 20 years we have been coming here. I will not rush back here in a hurry
The place was also filthy & run down. The cleaning of our room was sparse & did me poorly when it was done. Very unhappy guests & extremely upset to spend a few thousand pounds on this awful holiday.

We thought this place was great, first time we have ever been self catering and we were impressed. Everything we needed to cater in apartment and supermarket very close to get shopping. There were so many cheap places close by to eat out aswel. The beach was down the road beautiful beach BTW. All shops places to eat pubs down the road , children's play areas also . The hotel bar was good staff great no problems at all with getting a drink. We got sunloungers, we obvs knew to be there for ten amd got one every time so I suppose just make sure your there just before 10. Pools I understand no inflatables as the pool is big, and goes right round but its long not wide soIf kids all had inflatables and were to jump in in theor inflatable prob bounce off to side and get hurt ....cleaning came round all the time to replenish, I liked to clean myself but always came to make sure we had everything. If I had to have any moans it woukd be WiFi did go off from 9 pm till 10am one time and a couple other times went off after 12 till 9am say 3 out of the 7 days ... and my only other gripe nothing to do with hotel is hyperdino local super market can be over priced for some things BUT when we return Christmas we will go to an aldi just further down the main road out towards airport ...I'd say GREAT STAY our 2 year old loved it as did we.

Room tip: Bring sun lotion very hot in July, I burned because the lovely cool breeze hides just how strong the sun is and I got sunstroke sadly. WEAR SUNSCREEN

This is a very honest review!

Cleaning - they will hand you a piece of paper at reception that states that towels will be changed 3 times x week and bedsheet twice a week.
In 7 days we got the towels changed 3 times because we asked and never had changed the bedsheet, we had to personally ask the receptionist to have clean sheets, and even then, all we got was two single sheets (no duvet cover or pillow cover). At our arrival I noticed that one of the pillow cases was very dirty and I have asked the receptionist to please ask to have it replaced and we had to go collect it ourselves at the desk.
In the paper they state that they clean every day beside Sunday and Thursday.
Now, my issue is WHAT they actually clean? They don’t clean much really, all they do is replace the towels and swipe the floor. They do mop the terrace tho, apparently is more pressing than cleaning inside!?
The apartment is infested by little ants, be aware do not leave any food on the counter, the table or anywhere that is not the fridge.
Also make sure to wash every kitchen item before using it, the glasses were filthy. You won’t have anything to do the washing up with, you will need to buy it yourself…

Entertainment - laughable and basically non existent… if you think this is a place where your kids will have any sort of entertainment, you’re so very wrong. The mini disco is a 10minutes depressive episode.
Is not very clear when it supposed to start : the boards says at 8pm, the pool bartender says 8:30, it actually started at 8:45…
Played baby shark TWICE on Spotify and that’s about it.
They have one huge speaker in the pool bar and that is were everything happen, that is the entertainment of Caybeach. They just play music…

The internet and the tv will stop working randomly, can be for a whole day or hours. In 7 days we experienced 3 times and we’ve been told that “there is a problem with the line”…

The location itself is quite good, like all the other millions of similar resorts in the area, considering how close to the beach is and to all the restaurants and bars.
But if you think you will find any typical Spanish food prepare yourself to be disappointed.
Caleta de fuste is like a small village made for British tourists, with British food and British pubs.

Room tip: Clean everything before using it, especially the kitchen utensils Do not leave food out, the ants will infest it Same in bathroom
