Stopped off here for drinks and a bite to eat. Took advantage of their early bird menu, which ends at 5pm, and the food was good for the price however, had I have been paying the full menu price I would have complained re the over cooking of my gammon which I had to leave the last third which was too tough to chew. My partners main course
was fine and the other courses were good but nothing to shout about.
Staff were very polite and pleasant but I have rated it on the quality of the food.

Called here several times and the food has always been good...….not the Ritz but not their prices.
Always plenty of staff on duty, waiting times for meals quite acceptable.
Bar staff were rather abrupt, but they were under pressure.
Outside areas were clean and tidy.
Caters for all the family.
Decent car park with good access.

Sat outside on the evening of Friday 22nd June, nice sunny night, kids enjoyed the outdoor space and I enjoyed a great pint of Cumberland ale. We decided we might as well dine here, menu looked fine, everything reasonably priced. However the quality and standard of the food we were served was extremely disappointing. Overcooked sirloin steaks that were grey and tasteless & chewy, limp salad and a tomato and mushroom that were the same colour as charcoal (burnt to a crisp!) Kids sausages were also black as coal following overcooking. Everything looked as though it had been neglected, tossed onto a plate and handed out without any care or consideration. Chips were of the frozen variety. Pretty rubbish food to be blunt. Surely someone in the kitchen has the ability to cook a half decent steak!

I ordered the light bite scampi, which was still piled high with chips but the batter tasted like it had been fried in the same pan as the onion rings! My man had a 'burger' which consisted of two dry, tasteless chicken goons, again a field full of chips and a bit of 'garnish'. We both left most of it, needless to say. No one came to ask if it was ok whilst we were eating, and as we were in a bit of a rush, we paid up and left before the plates were collected. Won't get fooled again, to quote The Who!

The pub is in an ideal location 400m form the exit from the flower show. It is a good quality Marston's pub with a good choice of food and well kept cask ales. The staff were really pleasant and helpful. The food was hot and very tasty. We will return.
