We were quite a large party of ten adults and older teenagers and we were made very welcome. We had booked this restaurant for the Sunday evening before we arrived and it was a good decision as all the tables were taken and it is clearly popular with both tourists and locals. One minute walk off the main square it is really easy to find. The food was local French and we probably had most of the dishes. Everyone was more than happy with their food. The bar served beers and local wines and the service was excellent. It was a little quieter than some of the restaurants on the square, but we still thoroughly enjoyed our evening

If you stop by le Carroz, you definitely should come to Le Refuge 1110m. Amazing starters...but the mains are incredible. Special mention to the Fondue Savoyarde. Great service too! Thank you

Having seen rave reviews and having tried for two nights to get a table ( the telephone numbers online were out of date) we finally succeeded on our third attempt.
It is a tiny, cosy, mountain style restaurant run by a friendly, hospitable couple. Clearly popular, several hopeful diners were turned away on a Wednesday evening so booking is essential.

Unfortunately we were seated near to the open kitchen where a sizzling steak filled the air with smoke which set of my husband’s asthma! Extractor fans on please in and open kitchen!

The menu is traditional and quite varied although we chose a fondue to share. Good food, friendly service and acceptable prices certainly, but not gourmet or special. I cannot understand why it’s No. 1 in Les Carroz.

Thank Tracey M

Bonne vacances

Good restaurants in the Alps are hard to find. Usually overpriced and poor food. Pleasantly surprised with Le Refuge. Small restaurant run by a husband and wife team. Shared a tapas starter followed by an excellent Beef fondue. Tasty and beef was good quality. Prices are reasonable for the resort. Centrally located. I can see why it is No. 1 on trip advisor as there is not a great deal to choose from in the village and they have the right attitude. If I could make an improvement I would say that it’s a shame that there are spotlight downlighters as the lighting is a bit harsh. S’il vous plaît un peu de lumière tamisée!! That would make it more cosy. Didn’t try a dessert. Maybe next time. We would go again..

Cosy restaurant with a friendly welcome. We returned to this restaurant for lunch and supper during a recent visit to Les Carroz and both meals were delicious. A lovely range of tapas for starters including warm prawn and pineapple kebabs - a combination I had not tried before and liked very much. The main courses are more traditional savoyarde fayre with plenty of meat and cheese options. We also liked the puddings particularly the salted caramel ice cream and hot chocolate sauce. The restaurant gets busy in the evenings so it is worth booking in advance.
