I booked this apartment because it had two double bedrooms which I required as going with friend and sharing the cost.
The apartment in quiet location overlooking river. It did have two bedrooms one was spacious with en suite but the other was a long narrow room that had a double bed squeezed in near window that had no room for bedside table and lamp.I was upset as I had booked this apartment and my friend insisted she would take this bedroom which also smelled strongly of a tom cat.We left window open to try to get rid of smell but it was still there. The kitchen was poorly equipped and I didn't use the oven as it needed a good clean. We had to ask for loo rolls as not enough provided.I did e mail owner who only lives 5mins away and told her about smell and second bedroom. She replied stating no one had complained about smell and that it stated on web site that bed in alcove which it did not when I read it.I do think she should have arranged to come round and see us to address these issues. We love Tynemouth but would not choose to stay here again.
A spacious apt.in a lovely location with glimpses of the mouth of the Tyne through the trees. We have been using holiday lets for 30 years plus and this is the first one where no kitchen consumables were provided eg washing up liquid, kitchen roll, dishwasher tablets etc.We borrowed these from relatives nearby plus a tray as it was quite a trek from the kitchen to the dining area. The oven needed a good clean too. In the main bedroom the mattress was well past its useful life. In the same room we killed quite a few clothes moths. I got to do some DIY too. The handle of one of the doors fell off,the aerial cable for the TV was loose and I put the towel ring by the washbasin back onto the wall.
More attention to detail is needed plus regular inspections of the property.
Such character and a fantastic location!in need of some tlc, bathrooms need updating, mould in shower and tired looking. Mattresses very soft and noise from the flat above meant very little sleep. The flat could be cleaner and no cleaning products available. Overall a good place to stay but could be a great place!slightly disappointing for a 4 star.
Oven was filthy on arrival though owner had it cleaned promptly, unfortunately they could not fix the dishwasher- kitchen not well equipped and a little on the shabby side
Three of our children, my husband, myself and pets stayed here for just over two weeks. The apartment was clean, nicely decorated, had all the facilities one could ask for and some fabulous furniture, not to mention the bedroom with fairy lights and glow in the dark stars that my four year old daughter fell in love with!
There was no problem bringing our pets, a small extra charge was all that was asked for. The apartment itself is in a beautiful, almost genteel location but only a five minute walk from public transport, shops, restaurants, pubs and the beautiful Tynemouth Village. Looking out of the front of the apartment there are private gardens and at this time of the year, in full bloom, however it was still possible to see the bay. There was something magical about walking down the lane to the apartment and seeing glimpses of the sea. The view always made me smile. People who live in places like this are very lucky!
